Corn Sugar & DME in Starter

I'm about to make a 1 gal starter and I usually add about 12 oz of DME to it. I just realized all I have is about 8oz. Would it be ok adding 4 oz of Corn Sugar to get the gravity up? I'm brewing 10 gal IPA with gravity at about 1.070.

    My 2 Legged Hop Spider

Thanks to this board I made my own hop spider but simplified it with a length of 1/4" copper tubing I had laying around. I brewed a Dogfish Head 60 min IPA clone this past weekend and it worked great. I'm not sure if I needed to do this, but I kept lifting it up a little bit to get the hops...

Anyone Return Beer For A Refund?

I recently bought a 6 pack of a locally brewed beer, and it was bad, as in old. It was just a glass of foam and smelled musty. I think that was the first time I put a beer back on the shelve because of the price. I understand what's involved in producing these high end beers, but I can buy...

    Rust in my Keezer

I recently noticed a whole bunch of small rust spots on the inside of my keezer. The spots kind of look like splattered beer. Initially that's what I thought it was, until I tried to do a thorough cleaning, and noticed that most of them were rust spots I bought it new about 3 or 4 year ago to...

    Homebrewing in CT

Hello, my name's Dave and I've been brewing a long time. I brew 10 gal. all grain batches with a Sabco type set-up I built. No fancy plumbing, just a pump I move from vessel to vessel. I found this site searching for information on RIMS and found the RIMS for Dummies thread. Some great info...
