    Pumpkin Questions

O.k. I'm brewing a pumpkin beer today. This recipe calls for adding 5 pounds of canned pumpkin to the boil. I am thinking that is gonna cause quite a mess. Thinking about putting the pumpkin in my hop stopper that is made from the PVC pipe and a paint strainer. My question to some of you...

    Great Lakes Christmas Ale Recipe

Anyone have one something close to a clone of this recipe? I've scoured the net and come up with nothing. My sister is absolutely in love with this brew and I'm looking to make one close to it for the holidays. If noone has one does anyone have a very good holiday type ale that they would...

American IPA Bell's Two Hearted Ale Clone (close as they come)

Yeah I agree with this... I have a fairly similar clone recipe to this.. Could never get it spot on though until I actually took the yeast from a bells bottle. Not sure what strain they use but if it is one of the ones available to homebrewers it definitely has developed some house...

Just drinking one of the latest 10 gallon batch of this and I can honestly say that in spring/summer this truly has become my favorite brew I make.. Just so drinkable in so many ways!! Glad you all are enjoying it!!

    Barleywine from Zymurgy

O.k. that took me up to 90.4 IBU a little more what I was thinking.... Is -10 the proper setting for FWH? I think I had mine set to -65 because of something I read that Denny Conn wrote up once...

    Barleywine from Zymurgy

Thinking about trying the barleywine recipe from page 54 of this month's zymurgy... Put the thing in beersmith with a couple of tweaks to match my equipment though and was rather shocked to see that it only calculated out to about 53 ibus.. Do i have something messed up? Seems this might be a...

American IPA Bell's Two Hearted Ale Clone (close as they come)

I just transferred my 3rd attempt at a clone of bells 2 hearted over yesterday and I think i finally got it spot on!! Very excited about this one!! Grain bill is pretty similar to this one.. I think the important thing here is to clone their yeast from the bottle.. I've tried with both Irish...

American Amber Ale Zach & Jack's African Amber

I think it is very comparable... It is a little more to the hoppy side but not all that much.. Very much like the original...

    One grain brew?

I've been considering trying the same thing except using Amarillo's instead of Northern Brewers.. Still haven't decided the yeast though...

American IPA Bell's Two Hearted Ale Clone (close as they come)

Not arguing the grain bill at all.. I'd say that's pretty close.. Per bell's website though the ABV is 7% and the OG is 1.058... I think to get 7% alcohol that OG has gotta start higher than that though... Especially if they are using 1272 or WLP051.. I've never got that kind of attenuation...

American IPA Bell's Two Hearted Ale Clone (close as they come)

I tend to agree with the previous poster... I think what is best about bell's two hearted is that crisp clean finish and I'd hae a hard time believing that you get that from S-04... I just did a clone of this myself and I cultured the yeast from their bottle after trying one with WLP001 and...

    Vanilla bourbon porter

I use a pint of makers mark in mine.. and I believe that you CAN taste the difference in bourbons in the beer... Maker's mark is the best in this! Blends so well with the chocolatey porter and the vanilla beans...
