    Clogged.

I am using a bazooka screen in my pot and a a braided hose in my mash tun. It was also my first time with using pellet hops, I don't think I will again, it just seemed to make more of a mess. And yeah I think once I can find a rectangular cooler I am going to fit it with copper piping, I have a...

    Clogged.

In both the mash tun and boil pot when draining off the wort the screens seem t clog and it would barely flow. We ended up just scraping away the grains from the screen, is this not a good idea? And is there anything other then a false bottom that can be use to help with this? Happy Brewing!

Stepped up from 1 gal to 5 gals AG! (Questions & Tips ?)

So I believe I have successfully completed my first 5 gal all grain brew. Will a 42 qt stainless boil pot that I installed a kettle valve and bazooka screen and a 5 gal rubbermaid water jug that I also installed a kettle valve on and a braided screen on the inside. I connected a 1/2" hose for...

    Electric Kettle Vs. Turkey Fryer

I'm currently doing 2 gal AG batched on the stove. I have a 5 gal mash tun made from a Coleman stand up water cooler but need something for the boil. I have looked into both turkey fryers and spending the little bit of extra money and getting an electric kettles. I have ideas of why each one...

Homemaking a Mash Tun! Tips and Pictures?

Thanks for all the advice and help! And yeah, I might as well go big or go home! I will shop around and get a solid price on it all before starting anything, like California Burrito said if it's only a few dollars more it'll be worth just buying one that has already been put together! Thanks...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

And yes I also enjoy that small batches seem to force you to brew more often and gives you the chance to try a lager variety of recipes!

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I'm a little in between. Although I only have 3 brews under my belt I have stepped it up a gallon each time. Mostly because, like you said, I don't have the room or equipment to go for a 5g and you only get 10 - 12 bottles out of it. Being someone who enjoys to share and have other try the brew...

Homemaking a Mash Tun! Tips and Pictures?

I'm interested in making a mash tun similar to this, I'm thinking around the 5 gal mark. I also like the idea of a built in thermometer as well. So any suggestions, tips or advice when building/ using would be a great help! And please if you have pictures of your own, sometimes seeing...

    The MASH! It's to HOT~!

And using it over sounds great, at least nothing is wasted. Unfortunately I already went and bottled it. I also never took gravity reading, I keep meaning to start doing that but forget! Thanks again, it is good to get clarification on it! I guess this will be the first non-alcoholic brew!

    The MASH! It's to HOT~!

It was an all grain! And that's what I thought, we figured once hitting 180 it was a little late! I'll check out that program, thank you!

    The MASH! It's to HOT~!

I realize that the reselts of your brew are very temperature dependent, especially during the mash. A Blackberry Red Ale was the recipe. Basically when the grains were added the temperature seemed to keep rising, it hit about 180 (using a stove top). It took about 30 minutes to bring...

7 Days and this is what my beer is looking like ?

It's a Chocolate Maple Porter! And thanks all! I feel much better about it, I didn't want to touch it until I had found out more information on it, and what better way then to ask! Thanks again! I am super stoked on getting it bottled and then just the wait for the first taste!

7 Days and this is what my beer is looking like ?

A bit of background: About a week ago I posted a thread after cutting a hole in my bucket for a air lock but a slight gap was left from a nick I had made. Here's the post for reference as it may pertain to my problem...

Cutting a hole for Primary Fermentation?

Thanks all! I will leave it be for this batch seeing there is no real opposing threat. Once the bucket is free I will cut a bigger hole (with a hole saw), plug it and drill to fit an airlock! I like to have things as perfect at I can get them, and yeah it just adds to the peace of mind...

Cutting a hole for Primary Fermentation?

The bucket that I was given my LHBS had a lid without a hole for the airlock to be placed in. I cut a hole of good size but there is one little knick that you can see where the airlock doesn't completely seal. I know gas will leak from this. Is this going to cause a problem in fermentation? And...
