    Potable water required???

I don't know the answer.. however, would you eat one of the grapes "cleaned" by unpotable (which means not fit for drinking) water? I wouldn't... so I wouldn't want wine made from those grapes either... Scott

    Champagne Q?

Why would carbonation get you more drunk than flat? Assuming the same volume was consumed?

    Simple wholesome blackberry wine

I think the only way you could get to 12% without adding sugar is if you took a TON of blackberries and boiled then down until you hit the right starting gravity.. but that would be a LOT of blackberries.. Why are you opposed to adding sugar?

Looks very nice! I just finished a wine rack today as well, although it is not as nice looking as yours.

    new to wine

I have never brewed beer, but I've made lots of wine. The fermentation almost never requires a blow off tube, and is usually rather sedate. I've read that beer is much more vigorous.

    8 year old kit.

If the juice tastes good, go for it. I'm sure you could tell if it was bad.

Anyone Have A Floor Corker In AZ?

While it's true a hand corker will work just fine... a floor corker is REALLY nice. I would definitely recommend getting one, even if you just rent it.

Making Traditional rice Wine. Cheap, Fun, and Different

So I just "harvested" my first batch, got about 2 cups of liquid out of it. I used a japanese short grain sweet rice. It smells sweet, fruity with very light alcohol undertones. Haven't tasted it yet, I decided to pasteurize it (using the method in the Cider sticky) and refrigerate it first...

Ok, thanks. I misread what he said (missed the "much" part of the sentence).

    Homegrown Wines

I was not aware that freezing fruit removed the need for pectin enzyme. Are you sure on that?

Is Potassium Bisulfite the same thing as Campden Tablets?

Yup, same thing, you should be fine using it.

    The progress of my homebrew

There is very little wine that I make that I would ever want to drink without any aging. It's incredible how much better it tastes after even just a few months. Give some serious thought about letting it age, at least until it is clear.. although you should rack it into a glass container for...

    The progress of my homebrew

There's a lot of nasty germs in the bathroom. Just put the jug in a large pan, you'll be fine. And to the person that asked if you are going to drink that.. really? If that's all you've got to contribute, please don't. We'll all be happier. Scott

    Game of Thrones Mead

If anyone does a lannister themed mead, it really should have some edible gold flakes in it... :) Scott

    Canned Oregon friut for Mead

I've never heard any different for pureed fruit. Since it's by weight, it shouldn't matter.

    Canned Oregon friut for Mead

Generally you want 3lbs of fruit per gallon. So you would probably want 3 cans.

    Did I get infected?

Doesn't look concerning to me, I get bubbles like that all the time.
