I had the same problem. If you check online you can find which HD had the create a bolt kit. The ones near me didn't have it so I went to fastenals and got a 10pk of ss washers . My cooler needed 7 or 8 total washers to work so I used the ss ones because I didn't get enough regular ones.

This is only my first year growing hops but I've also heard that you should let the first year go crazy. but with 16 sprouts, maybe your plant is really big already. How big is the rhizome, or is it a crown? I planted mines about 3 or 4 weeks ago and there's only about 3 sprouts each...

I think I recall that others have said that it works for 10gal brews also but I guess it also depends on the OG you want. They recommend buying this because you could also do 10 gal if you wanted to. I mostly do 5 gal brews but I opted to get the 10gal. 5 gal brews, IIRC it is less than half way...

I have the 3 piece wine thief that comes with the kits and a turkey baster from the dollar tree. They both leak when I steal some beer. I learned to just put the hydrometer right next to the bucket when putting the liq in. I think the hole on the bottom of the baster and thief is too big. Maybe...
