    Partial/Mini Mash Recipe Idea

So I haven't even brewed my first batch yet; an Irish red kit; and I'm already wanting to get into my own recipes. I've read through "How to Brew" online already so I've at least got a starting point. I was just wondering if what I've got planned so far sounds like a disaster or not. I'm...

    Quick Volumetric Question

Just found the "Can I Mash It?" calculator in another thread and came up with 9.4x gallons. Little less than I estimated but I leave with the same conclusion. Thanks for reading anyhow!

    Quick Volumetric Question

Know there are a ton of threads that contain pieces of the info I'm seeking, but I'm just looking for a quick confirmation of my thoughts and calculations. If I were to do a 10 gallon AG batch, the grain could run up around 24 lbs depending on the recipe, displacing approximately 3 gal of space...

"Guilty" confessions of a beer enthusiast

Thank you!! I'm up in N. CA and so many of the most popular micros IBU's are off the chart, which is fine; I enjoy a good hoppy IPA or pale ale as much as the next guy; but there's nothing I love more than a malty delicious "meaty" brew. Anderson Valley's Brother David and North Coast's Brother...

"Guilty" confessions of a beer enthusiast

Simpler Times certainly doesn't hold a candle to a quality microbrew, but IMHO, it's much better than Urquell and at 2.99 a sixer, the quality is well worth the price.

"Guilty" confessions of a beer enthusiast

So, sorry if I'm repeating something already said, but I don't really feel like reading through 33 pages (on my phone) to find out. I'll very rarely choke down a Coors Light or PBR or whatever, though if given no other choice, I will choose to have a beer over going without. But of anyone lives...

    Just Starting Out

Sweet, thanks for the input!! Sounds like for as inexpensively as I can get Better Bottles and other fermentation equipment, a better initial investment would be a large pot and more burners. Think I'm going to start with the Northern Brewer's Irish Red Ale extract kit for my first go 'round...

    Just Starting Out

Hey everybody, my name is Sean, from Northern CA, and I'm just trying to get started on my home brewing journey. My goal is to start small; 5 Gal. extract brewing; and work my way up to 10 Gal. all grain brewing. I know that doesn't sound like a huge leap for many, but right now, I'm not in this...
