    How long can one keep beer in secondary?

    That depends on what style of beer your shooting for. Lagers need to be in the secondary alot longer than ales. Just reference a similar style recipe and see what they call for. Reference a few different ones and go from there.

    So i recently tried a few home brews from a friend, 4 room be exact. 1 porter, 2 ipa's, and a nut brown. I was impressed. Each were very crisp and refreshing. He told that me that he uses regular C&H granulated sugar. I use powdered corn sugar and have great results. I just purchased muntons...

    stupid noob question.

    i just racked my first batch into the secondary. Its a cherry melomel. Is the airlock suppose to be active at this point. Its been 24 hours since i transferred into secondary and nothing. It tastes pretty damn good ( i drank the hyrdometer test jar.) So what should i do/ expect.

    The use of oak chips.

    So i have a cherry melomel that's still in the primary. Its been going for 2 weeks now. I was considering using some oak chips. My question is when to use, how much and how long before you rack it off the oak.

    Show us your Mead in a photo!!!

    This is my first batch of mead. Its a cherry melomel. This is about one week into fermentation. Thinking about making it a sparking. Not sure yet. I added pitted fresh cherries to the primary, depending on how it tastes when i rack it to the secondary i might add more.
