Chances for a rauchbier in a competition?

Yep. Those are DEFINITELY hop pellets... And yes. That is what the two Briess bags are in the picture where I am showing off all the malts. As far as the recipe it was pretty much Jamil's Rauchbier recipe from Brewing Classic Styles with the Rauchmaltz cranked up to 50%. Fermentation...

Went and brewed 400 gallons up in Milwaukee in late April. The beer was released the last weekend of May. People are loving it !! https://plus.google.com/u/0/106612507429412633740/posts/Uu2DDEQsy9t and https://plus.google.com/u/0/106612507429412633740/posts/ZkPtDEejA7g

Can you Brew It recipe for Stone Levitation

I never really thought this about the commercial version UNTIL I made the clone... BUT, does anyone think one of the hops in this beer has a very "CELERY" flavor/smell to it !? I almost couldn't finish my keg of the clone because of it, and then I went back and had a commercial one and have...

How much of your mash adjustment salts make it into the boil?

I wasn't correcting anyone... I was just trying to provide a formula to help someone in the future when they Google this topic and find this thread like I did. AND I ALSO DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD TO POST THAT THE THREAD WAS 3 YEARS OLD ?!? SO F**KING WHAT ???? Because of your...

How much of your mash adjustment salts make it into the boil?

The "FORMULA" to figure out how much EXTRA water to treat in the BOIL is: VOLUME OF WATER TO BE TREATED IN BOIL = Total PREboil Vol - Treated MASH Vol Then you do a ratio (i.e. Vol of water to be treated in boil / Treated Mash Vol) and then you know what to multiply your MASH SALTS by...

Can you Brew It recipe for Firestone Walker Union Jack

EXACTLY !!! The "RO water with Gypsum and CalciumChloride to 100ppm" is NOT enough info ! TimBrewz, why do you think that means to get the Calcium to 100ppm !?!?!? They didn't say THAT. Although like I said I don't understand what they DID mean either... I am VERY much in line with...

Can you Brew It recipe for Stone Levitation

By the way... Local Homebrew Shop (Brewtensils, Dayton, OH) had no Crystal Hops... They called LD CARLSON to order some, and they told them NONE for the rest of the YEAR ! They also called the place they order their hop rhizomes from, and they told them that it was a "really bad year" for...

Can you Brew It recipe for Stone Levitation

Oh yea, you are right man... When I switch that recipe to the AMERICAN Pale malt, it only takes it down a little though, to 17.7 SRM (down from 18.3). Still weird that using the %'s for the BOOK recipe, with Jamil's ingredients, it hit Jamil's numbers, but using Jamil's recipe STRAIGHT, did NOT...

Can you Brew It recipe for Stone Levitation

If I plug all the numbers into BeerSmith2 from the CYBI show for 6 gals, it does NOT come out to the right values for SRM and OG ?? (it comes out to SRM 16.9, OG 1.046 and Jamil says it should be SRM 18.3 and OG 1.048) BUT, here is the WEIRD thing, if I use the numbers from "The Craft Of Stone...
