Ok. Have a dead minifridge that I want to turn into a lacto chamber. I have an STC-1000 ready for temperature control and a 120mm fan I can use to move things around in there, but need a heat source. Want to keep the temperature between 100 and 130. Have already tried a small space heater...
From Wyeast's website:
31. How do you achieve higher than 8 ppm O2 levels in your wort? .
By injecting pure oxygen into your wort through a stone (1 min for 12 ppm). Or, by flowing pure oxygen into the carboy's head space and shaking for 20 seconds, twice.
Anybody use the O2 flush and shake...
Have a bastardized pilsner that has been lagering for about a month now. I'm all ready to brew some more lager in a couple days. Would it hurt the beer that is lagering to bring it up to 50 or so for a few weeks while this new batch ferments? And then take them both back down to lagering temps...
Really wanting to be able to brew something like this hoppy ESB from Sweetwater. Their website lists the grains as: 2 Row, Carapils, Vienna Malt, 70/80, 13/17, 40L. Anybody got any ideas what the "70/80, 13/17, 40L" would be?
Made my first hoppy beer in quite a while last night. Was going really well until it was time to transfer from the kettle to the carboys. Then it was a disaster. Hops clogged everything. Sigh.
So here's what I came up with today. Its stainless braid from a water supply hose with a...
Still need to tack down a few loose ends, but it works in testing and hasn't burst into flames yet. Less than $30 in parts and a fully functional temperature controller. Now just need to pick up my free upright freezer and I am going to be in the lager business.
Preparing to start brewing lagers, and am looking at oxygen systems. I see the efficiency and speed of the disposable canister systems, but the aquarium pump systems are less expensive and have fewer long term costs. I don't mind leaving it bubbling while I clean up the brewery. What are your...
Just scored a beautiful, large upright freezer. My eBay temperature controller has been ordered. Getting ready to rock.
Anybody have any suggestions for this type of unit? Going to use it initially as a fermentation chamber/lagering cave. Then maybe transition it to a keezer later. It's...
I got frustrated with my homemade counterflow chiller and it's clogs, so I ripped it apart, soldered another 20 feet of copper onto it, coiled it back up, stuck some hose adapters on it, and made it an immersion. Used it for the first time today and it was AWESOME. Super fast, easy to use and...
First Time Poster here. Be Gentle.
Here's my plan, I have a version of Northern Brewer's Petite Saison that I really like. Nice, flavorful summer beer on the back porch kinda brew. I'd like to try a partial sour mash with it. Here's my plan.
I'm going to take 15% of the grain and put...
