Rogue Good Chit Pilsner Clone, Need suggestions

I didn't get to brew both. I did the one with the Horizon hops, but it did not taste like the Good Chit beer. It may have been a bad brewing process however. Sorry that wasn't very helpful. I may try this again in the future and will post back if I do. Or is you do it, let me know your...

    Is Oxygen My Problem?

Thanks everyone. This is what I have taken away from the discussion: Huge starters for large beers (or pitching beer on an existing yeast cake) Use direct O2 Make sure the yeast I use can handle the alcohol tolerance and attenuate properly for my goal Thanks!

    Is Oxygen My Problem?

Well for the Dopplebock. I did a starter. drained the fluid. Added more wort, fermented that out. So essentially a double-starter (or at least that is what I call it). Is that not enough yeast for a big batch of beer? Thanks!

    Is Oxygen My Problem?

It varied depending on the beer I brewed. Here is what I can remember: Dopplebock: Belgian Lager (Wyeast) - Double starter Dry Stout: Irish Ale (WL) - Single starter Hoppy Brown Ale: S-05 - No starter Belgian Dark Stront: Abbey Ale (WL) - Single starter

    Is Oxygen My Problem?

Hi All: My last 5 or 6 beers have been stalling out during fermentation. The last 3 big batches I have done started with a gravity of 1.099 or higher and then they stall out at around 1.040 to 1.050. The last 2 small batched I did stalled at about 5 points before the high end of it's...

IPA's not within BJCP style guidelines

And that was one of my arguments with another club member. My IPA's are within style, but would lose in a competition because it's not massively hopped. I feel that it isn't fair that I brew a perfect IPA that is within style, yet the IPA with the most hops (and that is out of style) takes the...

IPA's not within BJCP style guidelines

To help clear things up, these contestants are entering 5% to 7% ABV beers with 100+ IBU in the American IPA (14B) rather than the Imperial or specialty category simply because they don't quite add up to the imperial status. Because they tasted so good, judges were looking the other way. In my...

IPA's not within BJCP style guidelines

I live on the west coast and so our IPA's are ridiculously hopped. I have heard the discussion on other forums of wanting to create a new BJCP category called West Coast IPA because it generally doesn't fall within the IPA style guidelines specified by BJCP. In the past, I have judged quite a...

Rogue Good Chit Pilsner Clone, Need suggestions

Out of curiousity, I am going to brew both versions and see which one ends up closer.

Rogue Good Chit Pilsner Clone, Need suggestions

Here is the updated recipe. I emailed Rogue and John said that the grain bill looks good, however, he corrected me by saying that they use Horizon hops and Wyeast 2278. This is not what it says on the bottle. I've decided that I will stick with the Liberty and PacMan as it states on the bottle...

Rogue Good Chit Pilsner Clone, Need suggestions

Hello All: Want to try and clone the Rogue Good Chit Pilsner I had when I was up in Oregon. On the bottle, it says: 5 Ingredients: Brewed using 5 ingredients: Weyermann acidulated, Rogue Micro Barley Farm Dare Floor Malt, Rogue Micro Hopyard Liberty Hops, Pacman Yeast (although the...
