That is exactly what I need. Damn the internet search that didn't show that to me.

No I didn't remove the washer. I just tried a smaller than recommended thermometer and it didn't leak. The only thing the plastic cup doesn't test is how the heat effects it. I guess I could pour boiling water in the cup and see if anything changes.

So i drilled a hole in a plastic cup and did a test with a few smaller thermometers and it held water with both probes.

I'll look into that tonight when I get off work.

I talked to a guy in their chat and they don't sell a thermometer that fits. He also couldn't point me to one that would.

Is the cocoa powder in the recipe by weight or volume?

Played around with the recipe and did a partial mash. Tastes great.

Here is the finished product. It has had some mixed reviews. My sister and SWMBO say that it is too bitter. Would I just reduce the tannins and malic acid to make it less bitter?
