The braumiser, my braumeister inspired rig

G'day everyone, I just want to say to the people that PM'd me, sorry I haven't replied, just over a year ago my 5 year old daughter suffered a massive seizure and as a result of the brain damage that occurred she has cerebral palsy, I'm not being rude I just don't have the time to reply...

I Want To Buy A PWM

yeah they are phase control and yes you just connect the resistor across the 2 terminals that the dc input is connected to on normal SSR. I can't get on ebay at the moment but I wouldn't expect them to cost that much. They chop the waveform so they can produce a bit of noise but for switching a...

I Want To Buy A PWM

just search for these http://www.fotek.com.tw/Ecenter1.asp?class1_sn=4&class2_sn=18 on ebay. They switch on each half cycle for a length of time determined by the variable resistor.

I love your work saviothecnic I have been watching your progress on AHB. All of the improvement you have mentioned are possible but I don't have much time anymore to spend on my hobbies. Last October my 5yo daughter suffered a hypoglycemic seizure which has resulted in her having cerebral palsy...

    Automated volume sensing idea/help

Also I have had this page bookmarked for a long while but haven't followed up on it http://www.automatedsonix.com/son40.htm would be a good way to sense volume but I don't know how cheep it would be

    Automated volume sensing idea/help

there is no reason you can place the load cells under the burner ( a fair distance away to keep them sake from the heat) and zero the scales before you add the water. yes you could weigh the mash tun as well, then you could tell when the tun is drained because the weight would stop dropping...

    Automated volume sensing idea/help

The Max load on the bathroom scales was 150Kg so physically they should be good for that but I have it setup to give me full scale at 102.3Kg here are some more pics the 4 load cells removed from the bathroom scales a jiffy box connected to the underside of the scales containing...

    Automated volume sensing idea/help

I use load cells out of a cheap electronic bathroom scales and use a single supply instumentation amp R3 thru to R6 represents the load cells, I have adjusted the gain to give me 5v at 102.3 kg which gives me 100mL resolution on a 10 bit ADC. I have been using it on my HLT for a couple of...

I have never had a DS18B20 freeze on me but it could be that I poll it to see when the conversion has taken place and then read the temperature then. This can only be done if the DS18B20 is being powered and not in parasite mode. I would check the DS18B20 too. cheers steve

The braumiser, my braumeister inspired rig

yes it does. One thing I have noticed is that the pump is not on during the boil, the reason I put the pump on up until 94 deg c is so that the wort stuck in the pump and plumbing gets up to a good temperature to sanitise it. cheers steve

just a few things that has come up over the last couple of weeks, people that have been trying to switch 240v AC pumps have been reporting that the LCD becomes scrambled. It looks like its emi caused but switching the 240v, which seems to be able to be managed with a RC snubber circuit across...

The braumiser, my braumeister inspired rig

the nano has the same pin out so you would have to get a board that would take the nano form and put it into a uno form, also it would have to be a nano that has a ATmega328 as the ATmega168 just doesn't have enough room (code complies to 14.5k). The eagle PCB files can be changed so you could...

The braumiser, my braumeister inspired rig

thats awesome I'm glad I could help. As for the boil, I have used a PID algorithm in my first controller to control the boil and it works OK, I can go from a simmer to a mild boil to a strong boil by adjusting the set temperature, if you set it to boiling point then the pid will put in just...

The braumiser, my braumeister inspired rig

Hey remo, I don't have any PCB's left but I would not mind if someone in the USA does a run of PCB's and sells them to interested people. You don't need the PCB as you can use a prototyping board, it just won't be as neat. In the http://www.mediafire.com/?ji79nrtwvk3gga2 ZIP file there are...

The braumiser, my braumeister inspired rig

hey Mike, the cost was about $600, but $95 of that was for a pump I didn't end up using and the march pump cost about $200. The controller should cost about $170 to put together good luck with cheers steve

Arduino-How to go from breadboard to finished product

I have used eagle demo to make up a PCB and also an open source program called Kicad, eagle is great as there is a huge library of parts but I did find that I still had to modify a couple of footprints for what I wanted to do. Kicad is a good open source program but as with eagle it takes time...

    Single Vessel RIMS???

you could make a braumeister clone, or a BIAB rig with a rims tube or just an urn and BIAB with it. The problem with the second option is you still have to work out how you would boil, if you have a fired kettle then you could use the rims tube to do the mash and then remove the bag and direct...

The braumiser, my braumeister inspired rig

Hi Philgil, I have put together a zip file that contains all the files I used to make the controller including schematics and PCB design, it also includes a construction manual and user manual. I don't mind people using the information for themselves but i don't want to see it used for...

hey claudiobr74, the relay can be changed for any 12v relay if you are making up your own circuit, with the PCB's I have made it can't be done because the footprint is unique to that relay. cheers steve edit: an omron G5Q-1 can be used too and its rated at 10 amps instead of 5

PID settings on arduino based hlt

Hey fastTalker, I never said that PID control isn't suited for heating water, I said I don't think the arduino PID library is very well suited for heating water. here are my thoughts on the library, I could be wrong. With the default sample time set to SampleTime = 100; that...
