Can I store post-fermentation wort in a refrigerator?

Duh... haha that makes a lot of sense. I guess I'll just bottle the 2nd half. I hate bottling lol.

Can I store post-fermentation wort in a refrigerator?

This is my first brew in 5 years.. quick question. I only have 1 Corny Keg and I don't want to bottle, but my recipe is an 11 gallon batch. Can I ferment all 11 gallons and then store half in a refrigerator at a certain temperature for 1-2 months? Aka until I drink all 5 gallons of the...

First AG Brew Day in 10 Months ...and 1 fatal problem

From what I've read this morning (and I am obviously not a great source of information on the subject), it seems as though it's not much of a problem pre-boil because boiling rids the wort of the oxygen? And I did read some posts by people who seem to know what they're talking about...

First AG Brew Day in 10 Months ...and 1 fatal problem

Thanks. That's what I was leaning towards after countless threads on the subject. Not that I'll encourage it or make the same mistake again. Awesome quote by the way!

First AG Brew Day in 10 Months ...and 1 fatal problem

Yeah I've read a lot about it today on old threads (5 years) and there seems to be a lot of conflicting answers.

First AG Brew Day in 10 Months ...and 1 fatal problem

Oh, Impending Descent was incredible. It's not an easy thing to say, but it may be my favorite of all the scratch beers I've tried. I had to keep going back to take more than my fair share.

First AG Brew Day in 10 Months ...and 1 fatal problem

haha, thanks for the reply. I would say I splashed it quite a bit. Probably as much as you could without it spashing out all over my feet. :o

First AG Brew Day in 10 Months ...and 1 fatal problem

So I haven't brewed in 10 months (I know, shame on me!). Everything went well as I took my time and consumed a growler of Troegs scratch #83 - Impending Descent. :drunk: But then I made a fatal mistake. After the boil, I put the pot in some snow and stirred like hell to bring the...

Splitting 5 gallon batch into 5 1 gallon batches

I can't remember and also can't look at the jugs at work (hehe), but it may have been that the hops hadn't settled and were still floating around.. influencing the color.

Splitting 5 gallon batch into 5 1 gallon batches

FWIW.. Two weeks ago I split a 4 gallon batch into gallon jugs - 2 Maris Otter with Amarillo and the other 2 with Simco. I made sure the wort was blended between the first and second runnings before splitting into my 2 brew pots for the ensuing boil and hop additions. I had similar results as...

SMaSH IPA - Too Much Hops??

Hahaha that's great. I have a reputation to take things to the next level/too far, and seeing as this is a public forum, I will not go over the top.. as I whip my back.. (don't you do it!)

Haha, no worries. I'll drink the damn beer whether I like it or not! :tank:

SMaSH IPA - Too Much Hops??

Hmm.. Ok. I was thinking I would age it to help mellow the bitterness, but I guess losing the flavor and aroma would be a double wammy.. if the flavor and aroma help fight the bitter battle. Screw it, I'll drink it as it is and report my findings when it's finished. I'm sure if it's bad, I...

If I'm going to age this beer, should I age it in a secondary or age it in the bottles?

SMaSH IPA - Too Much Hops??

Haha, damn.. I'm going to have to get some.. great prices - at least compared to my LHBS. They charge $4.99 for 2oz of most hops.

SMaSH IPA - Too Much Hops??

I actually wanted to do FWH in this SMaSH but forgot - so I added it to the boil for 60 minutes. I'm assuming FWH is a replacement for 60 minute addition? I read these forums every day and try and learn as much as I can, but sometimes it doesn't matter how much you read, you still forget...
