    Blow-off tube frustration!

Well I was figuring I should bring the airlock to get the proper size. Just wasn't sure if there were was a particular type of tubing that should be sought out over others. Like are there multiple types of vinyl tubing or does it not matter which type of vinyl tubing it is?

Is there any particular type of tubing that should be purchased? In terms of the material that said tubing is made of.

midwest Irish red ale kit questions? help

I'm pretty sure new buckets can be found for around $15-$20. I could be wrong, but I feel like I keep seeing that number when searching for equipment.

    Blow-off tube frustration!

Awesome, much appreciated. Totally clicks now. Do you just re-sanitize that airlock if you are going to switch over to using no blow-off tube, or are you good to just add your sanitizer/vodka and put back together?

    Blow-off tube frustration!

Could you zoom in on the carboy end? or is the tube just going straight into the bung?

    First Brew- Fermentation Question(s)

Do you think that a second bucket, the same size that's holding the fermenter(s), would be good to act as containment on the chance that the airlock blows off? Most likely going to have limited space for my "brewery" and want to minimize chance for a big mess as much as possible.

What can be done with this chest freezer? (Specs inside)

Yeah person seems to be in a rush to get rid of it, just copied their description. Asking $60 for it. How many corny kegs could fit in there you think? No preference if I have the CO2 in or out of said freezer.

What can be done with this chest freezer? (Specs inside)

Starting to investigate Craigslist for things I can use, either now, or down the road, and came across a chest freezer that I think would be useful. The information provided is the following: Deep Freezer is 30 in. long, 24 in. wide, and 33 in. tall. Has about 8 Cubic feet of freezer space...

    First Brew- Fermentation Question(s)

Ah thanks, that's what I was assuming it would look like. Good to see that is how it should. Now you aim to keep the water temp within the range of the yeast you are using, correct?

    First Brew- Fermentation Question(s)

Jumping in for a little more info on this "swamp cooler". Is there any cover being used with a setup like this? I'd imagine depending on the depth of the container it may or may not be possible. Do you use the water bottles to cool it if you notice it is too warm even with the heater set to...

    Deciding on Initial Equipment

Oh I'm sure that not every beer will have a crazy fermentation that needs a blowoff tube. But considering I'm not 100% sure where I'll be able to set up shop, and that I wouldn't want to clean up if I don't have to, having something more than I would need is a nice safety valve. :D

    Deciding on Initial Equipment

Saving mess sounds like a good thing to me! Would the tubing be like autosiphon tubing or tubing that fits the size of the airlock grommet (not sure if equal sizes or not). Then run that into the vodka bottle? And would it be able to just set on the top of the bucket or on the ground? Finally is...

    Deciding on Initial Equipment

I'm definitely going to be keeping my eye out for deals and stuff like that. To start though (since I'm chomping at the bit to start) I'm going to get what I can just to get going. I can already envision some things I'd want to get or make. First thing I could see me trying to get together...

    Deciding on Initial Equipment

Yeah I may go with the Midwest option that comes with the Better Bottle. I get the Better Bottle and Autosiphon for 25 bucks more. The $10 or so saved this way will pay for the wine thief. And that way I'm ready for the future.

    Deciding on Initial Equipment

Like many others, I too am going to be partaking in this great hobby following Christmas. However, I have not gotten any equipment yet. I received the book "How to Brew" by John Palmer after seeing countless recommendations for it. At first I thought that the NB Basic Starter would be...
