    How to store starter

I made a starter yesterday the intention of brewing today. My kit didn't have the grains ground or a mesh bag so I have to get that stuff taken care of tomorrow and I won't be able to brew until Tuesday. Can I let the starter just sit out? Thanks. Todd

    Higher OG than expected.

Thanks for the fast response. Yes, it is an extract kit. I'll let it do it's thing and see what happens.

    Higher OG than expected.

So I finished brew #3, Northern Brewer's Dunkelweizen. The instructions have an OG of 1.053 and I ended up with 1.06. So what did I do wrong? What should I expect? Thanks.

2nd batch and Krausen blowing out...

The cider recipe was one my friend used first. He found it on the Mother Earth News website. I opted for the Honey instead of Brown Sugar with a second fermentation. http://www.motherearthnews.com/Real-Food/2007-10-01/How-to-Make-Hard-Cider.aspx

2nd batch and Krausen blowing out...

New in Milwaukee and already a question!

It appears all went well. We popped open the first 4 bottles last night and it was really good! Can't wait to start the next batch.

Sorry for the lack of updates. We did bottle the batch tonight, seems like all is well with it. I guess time will tell.

    First batch bottled

Sorry I haven't been good at posting any progress, but I did want to say we just finished bottling the first batch: Northern Brewer's Mild Ale. We are plotting out our next recipe and will keep you posted on what we try. Thanks, Todd

New in Milwaukee and already a question!

Quick update... Wednesday was brew evening. Everything went just as planned and 3 hours after starting we were done. Woke up the next morning to nothing happening, but by the time we got home from work the yeast had kicked in.

New in Milwaukee and already a question!

Thanks for the fast response. Greatly appreciated! I am starting out simple with Northern Brewer's Mild Ale. But as long as that appears to be working, I will step it up a bit fairly quickly I would guess.

New in Milwaukee and already a question!

Hi everyone, I was given a deluxe brew kit from Norther Brewer for Christmas. I was all set to start my first brew. My Wyeast pack is activated and now I realized the pot I thought was big enough isn't. I saw on Wyeast's website that if I put the pack in the refrigerator the yeast should be...
