    hops by the pound

Yeah. They are in Yakima. Great place to shop. They sell out quick of the big name hops. So if you want to buy bulk of the hard to find stuff, check out hopsshack. Sounds like you have everything else figured out! Happy Brewing!

    hops by the pound

I buy from hops direct or from hopsshack. Both very good service. Just make sure you vacuum package and freeze your hops. I break mine down to 1oz packages for half the pound. Then I package the rest in a big bag (in case a recipe calls for odd amounts). You will save a lot of money this way...

    Cheap Fly Sparge Set up

This is my setup. Cost about $0.45 for the tee. Works great. Before this I used a collander for my sparging.

    Sparge arm question

I just used 3/4 id pvc pipe. I drilled the holes with the smallest drill bit I had. I also just press fit everything for ease of cleaning. Works great. Im a slow sparger so it takes me about 30 minutes. If I wanted to push it I could get it done in about 3 minutes.

    Is a starter necessary?

    Is a starter necessary?

Im out of town for the next month, and my wife will be brewing an IIPA tomorrow and we have 3 jars of yeast that I washed a week ago. We don't have any dme or anything like that to make a starter. So my question is, can she just dump the jars of yeast in the fermenter and shake it up and call it...

I transferred my blonde onto 4 lbs of frozen blueberries then harvested and washed the yeast. My first time harvesting and washing yeast and it was surprisingly easy. Got enough for 3 batches.

What I did for beer today

Kegged my amber ale, transferred my chipotle blonde to secondary with 4 more chipotle peppers, brewed an american pale ale that is a slight variation from my haus pale ale. Oh yeah, today was the break in of my homemade tier system, and new blichman burner. That burner is amazing! I saved...

How to clean the beer line cheap and easy.

I run oxyclean through it and let it sit for a while. Then I run starsan through it while I sanitize my keg. I let it sit in the line until I attach the keg with beer. Seems to work well for me.
