Chocolate peanut butter stout round two!

All grain. I'll post the recipe ASAP. I used a list from allaboutduncan.com. From the samples and the readings it's already better than my first. Starting gravity 1.06. After three consecutive readings of 1.02 it's done. I'm moving to secondary tonight. Will post pics and recipe later tonight...

    Yeast starter, not enough?

I made a yeast starter last night, this is my second one ever made. And I have a Cali ale smack pack. I only added 2.5 cups water to 1/2 cup DME. Would that still produce a decent yeast starter or should I start over?

    Thoughts on this stout

I got this simple recipe for the forum but can't remember who wrote it or the thread title. However; when I wrote it down I forgot to include 4oz oat malt. I think the stout will still be good, but if some of you believe the beer will be better with the oat malt or a chocolate malt please let me...

    Keg to bottle extended time

First, I have read several threads on the forum and watched a few videos on this topic. And from my keg I use the long food grade tubing to get the brew in to the bottle. The carb lasts for a while maybe 24 hours tops. For me that is normally OK. This batch is going with me on a road trip so I...

    Krausen or left over StarSan

So I didn't fear the foam on this brew but the fermentation appears a little different. More for curiosity than anything is the reason for my question. I had some foam left in the carboy when transferring from the kettle and there was a lot of foam in the carboy after the transfer was complete...

    Midwest Uncrushed Rapid Response

Hey all I should have checked the boards first but I fell victim to MWS terrible grain mill. I have about 16lbs total, I ordered the BEAVER chocolate Stout and well some grains are crushed others are not. My LHBS might still be on vacation but in any case tomorrow is brew day, no way around...

    how much priming sugar

I have an Oktoberfest fermenting on secondary now and in a week I will be putting 1 gallon in bottles with priming tablets. I want to prime the remaining 4 gallons with priming sugar in my keg but I'm not sure how much to use. Could some provide assistance on this matter, please and thank you.

    too cold to ferment

Just did a BB kit, Oktoberfest. It's in primary but It's in my fridge so is that going to be too cold for it to ferment? It's still primary and the yeast is one that can work at 70f, but I've got it around 48f. I should probably relax and have a home brew but I wanted to see what you all think

    adding a regulator

I have read some posts that give some helpful tips. But the question I don't know the answer to is this. Is the Taprite regulator found here http://www.bvrgelements.com/product/Taprite-Dual-Gauge-CO2-Regulator/ a left thread and if so can I purchase another one of these and add a regulator to...

    Red Ale

So I made my first red ale today. The kit was from Brewers Best, really nice get up. Came with Willamete hop pellets I bought some whole hops instead; $2 per oz and I got two oz it was a steal. I can't go wrong. So I started the boil and the temp went a little high, 178 on the steeping, I was...

    ravings of a novice

Making my first red ale. A buddy of mine said he wanted to learn how to make beer and I offered him my literature on Complete Joy of Homebrewing, he declined and said he wanted to pay me to learn. Of course I wanted to say yes but with my somewhat novice skills it would have been wrong of me to...
