    When to take OG, when pitching on a yeast cake?

    Hefe seems dark.

    Hefe Starter has a weird smell?

    Made a starter yesterday, but I think it was around 75-80 in my house. Brewed first thing in the morning, poured my starter in, but it had a weird smell. Should I be concerned? I made a Hefe two months ago but don't recall if the smell was present in that starter.

    steeping step temperature question

    I have been perusing the recipes on that site with 5000+ recipes... anyway, some extract with grain recipes call for steeping by raising the water to certain temperatures holding and moving higher and holding etc... i.e. go 60...hold for 15 minutes, go 133 hold for 20 minuts... got to 160...

    How important is the hydrometer?

    Yeast Settling in Bottles

    So I bottled my first batch two days ago... took a peak at a bottle and it appears as though some yeast(i think?) has settled at the bottle of some bottles. Looks similar to wha was at the bottom of my secondary. Obvious newb question.. is this normal? Maybe this should be an acronym... ITN?
