    HERMS question

For all you HERMS brewers out there. How many burners do you use and why? I understand you need at least two, one for the boil and one for the HLT/heat exchanger but I've seen some systems use three burners, the third being used for the mash tun and I'm curious as to why. I've been planning...

Curiosity is getting the best of me...

Or maybe it's my OCD kicking in but I just gotta know. Looking through all these keezer threads I notice a vast majority of them have taps that are "off centered". Is there a reason for this? I'm not criticizing, just curious as to the reasoning behind the designs.

    First brewday "glitch".

Doing a half batch of a pumpkin ale yesterday. BIAB with a 5 gallon kettle. Collected all the wort and got about 10 minutes of boil and then propane runs out. Got more propane but the wort never got back to a full rolling boil, more like a hard simmer. Can't figure out why. I was running...

    First AG brewday...DONE!

My first AG brewday is in the can! It went smoothly and was crazy easy! Should've done this from batch #1! Not being one to be too wasteful I went and found a bread recipe using spent grains and it's in the oven as I type! I love this hobby! :mug:

Yet another single tier DIY build

I'm still very much a noob in the world of homebrewing but after seeing all the DIY builds I've decided to throw my hat in the ring so to speak and go AG. I bought a 48qt Coleman cooler and will be converting that to a MLT soon. I found this on craigslist the other day for $30 bucks and...

Force carbing a 2.5 gallon keg

Has anyone here ever force carbed a 2.5 gallon keg? I'm just getting into kegging and I have a couple of 2.5 gallon corny kegs that will need carbing soon. Any advice?

3 gallon keg vs. 5 gallon keg

I have a 5 gallon batch of Oktoberfest fermenting right now and I'm planning on only kegging 3 gallons. I'll also be sugar priming in the keg. My question is is it ok to prime 3 gallons of beer in a 5 gallon keg or would a 3 gallon keg just make more sense?

    Recipe critique

My wife wanted something light and with a hit of citrus for the summer. I'm not setup for all grain yet so this is an extract recipe. This is what I came up with. 8 oz. Honey Malt 8 oz. Caramel/Crystal Malt - 10L 3 lbs. Pilsen DME 3 lbs. Golden Light DME 1 oz. Cascade .5 oz. Amarillo...

    Priming bottles AND a keg

I have a 5 gallon batch of ale that I want to split up into a keg and bottles. My plan is to have about 3 gallons kegged for a party in august and the other 2 gallons will be bottled. Is there an easy way to do this?
