    35 gallons on their way.

Successful brew day overall. Had my first boil over ever. Cranked the flame too high and walked away; even with Fermcap. Nothing major though.

Good brew day overall. I love brewing in Michigan I'm the winter... Chill times are epic.

    Stepping up starter question

Ok so I'm brewing a big batch on Saturday and it requires about 425 billion cells according to Mr. Malty. I've been using starters for a while, but this is the first one I've had to step up this big. It's calling for a little over 4L of starter. I did a 2L yesterday and planned on chilling it...

    3 body secondary regulator settings?

So I've upgraded to a 3 body secondary regulator to serve different beers at different carb levels, but I have a question: Does it matter what order my pressures are in? Does the first one in the chain need to be at a higher psi than the second one in the chain?

Secondary regulators & manifolds daisy chain questions

OK, so I want to be sure I'm understanding this correctly before I buy anything. I'm in the process of upgrading my 4 tap kegerator into an 11 tap keezer and I want to have different pressures for different styles. I'm thinking 3 different pressures; one higher pressure for wheats & Belgians...

    Keezer defrost issue / question

So I may be able to get a great deal on a 23 cuft deep freezer. The only issue is that the owner says "it freezes great for about a month and then defrosts itself"... Any idea if that will matter at all with what I'll be using it for? Since it's never actually going to be freezing anyway? If it...

    Oak Aging a Wee Heavy

Ok. I have a question on the oaking. I've read up on it a alot, but there's one thing I'm still not sure on. It's a monster of a wee heavy... 17.5% at this point. I will be oaking this on 2oz of Lagavulin soaked med toast french oak cubes for 11 months, then kegging for 1 month before...

    16.56%!!! Is this possible?!?

I brewed up a monster of a Wee Heavy with an OG of 1.122 on 7/8/11. During the first week of fermentation I was drinking a few Samichlaus and I decided to see how far I could push this one since I planned on ageing it until Christmas of 2012 anyway. I read up on incremental feeding with yeast...

First BIG beer. Looking for advice.

Hey all, Going to do this one tomorrow or Saturday, but I have a lot of questions. I've been brewing for a while now but have only done about 6 beers in the "bigger" range of 7.5%-8.7%. I want to try my hand at a monster that I'lll finally crack open for Christmas of 2012. The recipe below...

    Beergas, Nitro, CO2... Options?

Ok, so I've looked through the threads, but can't find anything definative. I'm trying to set up a stout faucet on beergas, but can't find anyone in Michigan to help me get it. So I could get a "blender" but don't want to drop $600 on a unit right now (or anytime in the future).... So my...

BeerSmith... confused on IBUs for Blue Dot Double IPA Clone

Ok, so I have an issue. I entered a clone recipe that I got for Blue Dot Double IPA from a BYO issue. Acording to the BYO recipe this should come out at 100+ IBUs... now I know 100+ is vauge, but after entering everything into BeerSmith it calulated out to 422 IBU?!?!? So my question is...

First All Grain... just went into the fermenter.

Hello All, I've been lurking around the forums for a while as a guest and only recently became a member. I've been doing partial mashes for a few years now and decided to move to all grain after reading countless hours here. So below is my recipe. I didn't originally plan for the Lactose...
