One gallon batch finished in 48 hours

Just did a 1.25g batch two mornings ago, pitched yeast around 7am. Left it at 62-64F for about 36 hours then moved it upstairs hoping to get any where from 66-68F. This morning I came home and absolutely no bubbling in the airlock. Krausen had gotten maybe 1/2" high, and it did not have a...

Illinois 2 Like NEW 5 Gallon Ball Lock Kegs

I have 2 ball lock kegs for sale $50 each + shipping. I bought two to many a few years back and was hoping to upgrade my kegerator and it never happened. They have been sitting around, so they are like new. Never been used inside, the outside may have a bit of wear and tear from being moved...

Illinois 2 New 5g ball locks $70 each

I had planned on getting a bigger keezer and adding 2 more kegs, however life happened and now i just want to get back into brewing. Been over a year and I need to buy all my plastic over again. I had bought 2 brand new kegs from kegconnection, the single handled 5g ball locks. Still sitting in...

Georgia Free 38DD mother of fermentation chamber! macon, ga

Built from the original 38DD fermentation chamber. Has everything but temp controller. Moving and don't have room worked great for ales. It is just the Styrofoam box 2", i never added the wood trim around it. Very solid. Pick it up at 1070 hill place macon ga. All i ask is you leave a message...

Mashing in a brew kettle ?

I would like to batch sparge just to try it out however I don't have a cooler mash tun. I will use my 5.5 gallon kettle with a bazooka tube. I plan on doing brews in the range of 10-12 pounds, making the kettle almost full, which I'm hoping will help retain heat. I'm also planning on either...

    Lagering at 40 degrees?

I would like to try and brew a lager, however I only have 1 keezer. So once my pipeline is up it will stay 38-42. If I make a lager in my basement I will ferment around 52-54 degrees for 3+ weeks, d-rest 1 week, then go to 40 degrees to lager. Is this temp ok or do I HAVE to be closer to 32?

Can you serve beer at 48-50 degrees from a keg ?

I just recently purchased a 7 cf chest freezer to get a keezer under way. I will have room for 3 kegs along with a plastic fermenting bucket. My goal is to use the fermenting bucket for lagers. I don't want to go out and purchase 2-3 more freezers until I have tried out a few lagers and see how...

Free hops to brewer in my area

I quit brewing for over a year ( had 2 kids and in my final semester of nursing school) and am now starting to get back into it. I bought a few pounds of cascade, magnum, and columbus. Also with my brother moving out I don't brew as much IPA's as I would have back then. Ive had these hops for a...

1 gallon mead with ale yeast (1056)

I am going to be making a 1 gallon batch of mead to try it out. After listening to the brewradio pod cast I have decided to use 1056 ale yeast. With my ales I have to watch for blow off sometimes and need a blow off tube for a few days. If I make a 1 gallon batch in a 1 gallon carboy it will not...

    Water profile

Any one care to take a look at my water profile and give any advice on what exactly I should do to improve it. I brew mainly pale ales the majority of the time. Any advice would be great, also I don't know the difference of total alk and total hardness, that's just what it said on the water...

10 Gallon Biab split into 2

Ive searched the forums and can't seem to find an answer to this question. I have a 15 gallon brew kettle, and it is big enough to do a full 10 gallon boil, but it's not big enough to do a full 10 gallon biab mash. So what I thought I could do was split it into two. Take half the grains, do my...
