    Boil video 5500w element

Thought this might be interesting for those planning out their systems. This is 12 gallons boiling with one 5500 watt camco element using a BCS in PWM mode at 50%. This gives me about 3/4 gallon per hour boil off rate. For reference I'm at about 8400' elevation and boil occurs at 195 degrees.

    drip trays for pumps

This is one of those cheap things that has worked so well I had to share. Been using these in my mud room for years and found they work great for catching drips and spills under my pumps. Only like $4 at home depot. They can hold A LOT of liquid, just ask my clogged plate chiller LOL.

BCS 4 element build coming online finally

Can't believe it took over a year! I finally got to power up and run some wet tests over the weekend and my buddy and I had a blast tweaking the BCS. Back for more today, I put the kid on the bus and had a chance to enjoy some coffee in the sun and watch some water cook before work. Took 13...

My first step bit attempt - and some graphics for templates

I made these graphics up to use as a template for my control box. It made it easy to line it all up on the screen and visualize the footprint. I taped the template on and center punched through the paper to mark my hole locations then discarded it for drilling. Everything came out right where I...

For a DIN rail inside my control panel, I see at various parts sources like automation direct they have breakers as "c" or "d" trip curve. Are pumps or elements considered a high or low inrush in this application? The term control circuits and coils jumps out at me as first choice but?? I have...

Travel with keg, gas on or off purge?

Going mobile with a 5lb tank and keg. Thinking about the car bounce it will take and that it will go into action at unload. Before I leave should I purge it, unhook with serving pressure in it, leave it on the gas? I have both in an ice tub together, nothing will be rolling around.

    ipad/iphone video tutuorial apps

I did a quick search and didn't see any mention of these, but I stumbled on these apps a few weeks ago doing my standard "beer" search in the app store. The apps are just basically well produced video of making a beer with nice chapter navigation. Looks bad ass crisp on the ipad. The coolest...

FYI Not all carboys are the same size

I know this is obvious, but.. My wife just helped me lug my second batch down to our storage room where my first batch from last week is hanging out. She points out "this bottle is bigger". Woops. There were 2 carboys in the kit my LHBS put together for me and I never had them next to each other...
