Highly carbonated! 1st week in bottle. Trouble?

My first extract batch has been bottled for 1 week. I didn't check gravity 3 days apart, but did check 2 days in a row without a change. Brew was in the primary for 4 weeks total. 64 to 66 degrees for the first 3, and a solid 68 the fourth week. Just popped my first homebrew top:rockin:, and...

    little white swimmers....

What are these things??? I just bottled my first batch last night, and about half way through racking to the bottling bucket I notice these white things, about the size of a piece of rice, floating up from the yeast cake in my primary. They would hang out on top for a bit, and then settle back...

    4 weeks...have to check sg?

I broke my hydrometer, and haven't taken any sg readings. This was my first brew, an extract with specialty grains, and it's been in the primary for 4 weeks come friday. I wanted to bottle at 3 weeks, but didn't have the chance. It may be a stupid question. But, there's no reason I can't...

    Rehydrating yeast questions.

Safale s-04 instructions. Re-hydrate the dry yeast into yeast cream in a stirred vessel prior to pitching. Sprinkle the dry yeast in 10 times its own weight of sterile water or wort at 27C ± 3C. Once the expected weight of dry yeast is reconstituted into cream by this method (this takes about...

    2nd brew...yeast for brown ale ?

I'm about to order my 2nd extract kit. Big River Brown Ale from Midwest. My first batch, still in the primary, was their liberty cream with Safale us-05. I went with a dry yeast to keep it simple. I'm wanting to use dry yeast with the brown ale too, but I'm wondering if the Safale s-04 will...

5 gal carboy as primary or rack to secondary?

If I knew how or could delete this I would. I found through search. I like HBT to much and got trigger happy. I started my first batch Friday, and I'm wanting to start a second one soon. I only have one fermenting bucket, but I have 5 gal carboys. So, should rack my first batch to a...

Forgot to put oxide layer on aluminum pot...

First batch. Extract with specialty grains. I knew I would screw something up. I forgot to boil my aluminum kettle first. Am I going to have a metallic tasting cream ale? Thanks, Wes

first brew foamy pitch and fermenting temp vari

LME w/specialty grains and dry yeast. I aerated wort between buckets, and then topped off with 2 gal tap water from the sprayer. Got a massive head of foam all the way to the top of the bucket. I didn't want to wait to long before pitching so I tried to stir down the foam. Not much luck. So...

    Middle Tn Noob...

Just wanted to intro myself. I tasted my first homebrew from a buddy in Frasier, Co about 8 years ago, and knew I wanted to try homebrewing. (Included town and time just in case Opie aka Scott is on here.) Just now getting around to it. Got my kit, how to brew, and my ingredients two weeks...

    1st brew tonight....Anxious

First post and brew...So, I think I'm ready. I have all my equipment, ingredients, and a small amount of knowledge. I'm pretty nervous. Not really about the boil or fermentation. More so the preparations and small details that you can't read in a book. But, I have read How to Brew, and I'm...
