    What causes low SG

    I brewed my second batch tonight and the SG was 1.026 but was supposed to be 1.042-1.046. I don't know of anything I did wrong, everything went well. What could cause this and should I be concerned? Just a medium ale kit from Midwest. (Excelsior Altbier).

    Newb Question on Taking Hydrometer Readings

    I have my first ever batch in the secondary now - an amber ale. I used a plastic bucket for the primary and 5 gal glass carboy for secondary. So it was easy for me to take the hydrometer readings by just sanitizing and dropping it in the bucket. But I would like to know the methods you...
