I need an IPA recipe that fits

I am looking for a good IPA recipe that will fit into my 5 gal mash tun. I've been looking all over the forum for good looking recipes, but they all have more grain than will fit into 5gallons with a 1lb/1.25qt ratio. I really want to stick to that ratio as I have been getting 80% efficiency...

Lost my stir bar..Is there anything else?

My guess is that I'm up $hit creek. I have turned my house upside-down and I can't find my stir bar. Has anyone else used anything other than a stir bar? I'm going to try a paper clip. lol:cross:

BIAB...Why do I need to do more?

My last two batches were my first goes at AG brewing. Both of them were done with a BIAB method. I used a 5 gallon cooler with a paint strainer for the mash at 155F, drained by tying the bag onto a step ladder to drain for 15 min., then I use my brew pot for the batch sparge, and again drained...

Can i still wash this yeast?

I bottled a batch of Hefe two weeks ago and I scooped out about two cups of the trub, put it into a sanitized mason jar, and put it into the frig. My guess is that I still can wash the yeast (WLP300) but I was wondering what you guys had to say. Thanks :mug:

Please help!! No fermentation W/ Nottingham

I finished my first AG brew yesterday (BM's Centennial Blond). I used Nottingham, and come to find out it's a bad lot# No fermentation in over 36 hours. I have two options: 1. Pitch a Hefe Yeast that I'm going to bottle tomorrow or Sunday. (Funky Hefe flavor in my blond) 2. Start a...

Small starter mistake. What should I do?

I was going to brew a Hefe today with WLP300 (first time using a liquid yeast) so I made a 1L starter with 6oz of DME yesterday and it's looking good. The mistake I made was using light malt extract for the starter. Shouldn't I have used the wheat extract? I understand that there's a...

BMs Centennial Blond with strawberry infused moonshine

I have a pint of moonshine infused with frozen strawberry's :drunk: I probably will never be able to drink the stuff again (don't want to talk about it) and I was thinking I could use some of it for a few bottles of the Centennial Blond I brewed last weekend. I read that strawberry's and this...

Please review my first partial mash recipe

Hello everyone, From what I'm reading a wheat beer is one beer you can go all extract and still come out with a great beer. I am trying to work my way into AG brewing and I want to start off with an easy partial mash technique with a forgiving beer to give it a go. I am playing around with...

    Sampled the gravity reading and....

I'm getting to bottle my first home brew in 12 years. I just took a gravity reading and I'm down to 1.010 down from 1.052. My concern is that the sample tastes very yeasty. Is this something I need to worry about? Right now the beer tastes much like a good wheat beer, and I wouldn't be...

First full boil help please! (quick)

Hello everyone, I've been pretty much lurking here for the past month, long enough for me to get the bug, buy a starter kit and start brewing. I have an amber a week from bottling that I bought from More Beer. I also bought a Blond Ale kit for the second go which is going as I type...
