    First Boil Over

I am brewing a Liberty Cream Ale from a Midwest Brewing Co. extract kit...and I was talking with my kids, then it happened....my first boil over. I got it cleaned up in a hurry, but I was pissed to say the least...oh well...almost 50 gallons brewed and this was my first boil over! Happy...

    Rogue Dead Guy Ale Clone

I just opened the first bottle of a clone of Rogue's Dead Guy Ale my wife and I bottled a couple weeks ago...and it is a "spitting image" of it...minus the spit I guess. Great color...good head...flavorful...a great end to a long work week! :mug:

First taste of our first batch...

I'm watching my brackets get murdered and brewing a Rogue Dead Guy clone, so I decided to try a bottle of our first batch my wife and I made, an Irish Stout. It was in the primary for 2 weeks and has been bottled for 7 days today...my thoughts... Color is almost black, but not as black as I...

    Bottling sucks!

My wife and I just bottled our first batch of beer tonight...and...bottling........sucks hairy berries! It was a smooth process, other than when I cracked the first bottle I capped when I capped it too hard. It is messy, wasteful (I only bottled 49 twelve oz. bottles), and just too much...

I brewed an Irish Stout extract kit and it has been in the primary for 9 days today. OG was 1.044 (range 1.042-1.046) and the FG has been holding at 1.011 (range 1.010-1.012) for 3 days now. I was planning on leaving it in the primary for 3 weeks before bottling, but with the gravity where...

    Temperature drop affecting fermentation?

I am fermenting 5 gallons of an extract Irish Stout at about 68-69 degrees...4 days in, my thermostat died here at the house overnight...so I woke up to find it sitting at 58 degrees at 7am...could not have been at that temp longer than 6 hours...I immediately reheated using a blanket and an...

    Differences Between LME and DME

I just brewed an Irish Stout that used LME in the boil. I just picked up two clone kits from my LHBS and both of them use DME (both kits have a crap ton of DME packed in them.) What is the difference in quality, ease of boil, etc...if any...between LME and DME?
