Reading my single gauge regulator question

I'm a new kegger, hopefully putting my first batch in tonight. I have a question about the scales on my regulator. I can't seem to find any information. There are two number scales, which on should I be looking at to set the pressure flowing into my keg for pressurization? What is the other...

    First all grain, first infection

After three extract batches I jumped into all grain with a saison. Unfortunately enough this batch was also my first infection. After close to a month in the carboy, it developed a very obvious pellicle which could not be mistaken. Guess I need to step up my sanitization. How many batches did...

It's amazing how much visuals add to the enjoyment of beer

Whether it be a nice firm head on the beer or elegent lacing in the glass, I find myself enjoying a beer so much more if it looks beautiful in a glass. I feel like people who don't appreciate craft beer just don't understand how beautiful that is. Anybody else just love looking at beer? :mug:

    Beersmith split boil.

When setting an equipment profile on beersmith, is it possible to set it up for split boil? I don't have a burner so I do full boils split between two pots, which results in more boil off. Thanks.

    Sparge temperature question. Time sensitive

So I'm working on a recipe from BYO mag. It's my first all grain. It says sparge with 170 degree water, I'm batch sparging so should I heat it higher than that so it levels out at 170? Thanks.

    Cleaning a Kettle (Dishsoap question)

I searched around and didn't see the answer I was looking for. Do you use dish soap to clean a kettle? Will the use of soap in the kettle affect head retention?

    Which system to buy?

So I'm looking to get a kegging system. The front runner for me right now is Midwest Supplies corny keg system. What do y'all have, what's good and bad, what's the best for the money? Any advice is greatly appreciated.:mug:

Alabama Homebrew Legislation update (Wish 'em luck)

Didn't see this posted anywhere. HB 266 will be voted on in the house of representatives tomorrow April 21, 2011. Passage of the Bill would grant Alabama residents the right to brew up to 100 gal. of beer per year.

    Suggestions for beers to age

So I've been toying with the idea of cellaring some beers to age and was looking for some suggestions of specific beers that would be good to start with. I enjoy darker heavier beers. Stouts and porters are right up my alley along with barley wines and dark belgians. Suggestions would be...

    One Week After Bottling

Well my first brew (Amber Ale from Midwest) went in the bottles last saturday and I made it this long before cracking one open to try it. Poured a beautiful color with about 3/4 inch of head. The taste has dramatically improved from one week ago. It's a damn good beer and it's not even ready...

    First Brew

Well after about a year of thinking about it and getting caught up in other stuff (along with lurking HBT) I finally started my first brew, Amber ale from Midwest. Sadly I didn't take a hydrometer reading at the beginning but as it's been six days in primary I just took my first of the series. I...

    Coopers Microbrewery kit?

I'm deciding on what path I should take in starting my home brewing. Has anyone used the Coopers Microbrewery Kit? Is it worth while? If not this one then what kit would you suggest?
