    co2 pressure increasing

I have a dual regulator where I set the pressure to 10 psi but it keeps increasing up to 20 psi on it's own. Granted, I did move it from outside the fridge to inside the fridge when I hooked it up to the keg. Could the temperature drop in the co2 tank cause the gauge to increase?

    Extract Brew - Low OG

Boiled an extract IPA last night and the estimated OG came out to 1.057 but measured out at 1.044. I had added 6.25 gallons for the boil but barely any boiled off so I was left with about 5.5 gallons instead of 5. would this account for my lower gravity reading?

    Yeast Starter

Posted this in another part of the forum but may get more response here: Plan on brewing an IPA this saturday and am using WLP051 liquid yeast. The OG should be 1.057 according to beersmith. I'm kind of hazy of the directions to make a yeast starter (which I'm assuming should be done). Should...

    WLP051 Yeast Starter

Plan on brewing an IPA this saturday and am using WLP051 liquid yeast. The OG should be 1.057 according to beersmith. I'm kind of hazy of the directions to make a yeast starter (which I'm assuming should be done). Should I make the starter tonight or tomorrow night? I do have some DME from a...

I'm considering converting my garage fridge into a kegerator and am looking at this system in particular: http://www.micromatic.com/draft-keg-beer/kegerator-conversion-kits-pid-RCK-LC-S-2.html or this...

    Chocolate Robust Porter recipe help

Ok, so completely new to this but I've done two kits and I'd like to try and "create" my own. Looking to work on a robust porter that I can tweak some the next few months so I have a good recipe for the winter. Here's my first stab at it. Any input, criticism, or advice would be greatly...

    Munton's Carb drops...

History of my dilemma: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/bottled-too-little-priming-sugar-162924/ so my LHBS didn't have the coopers. instead, they had the muntons carb drops. Per instruction I added 4 per 12 oz bottle. My issue is I've read mediocre reviews regarding muntons leaving...

Bottled with too little priming sugar

Just finished bottling an IPA that I cold crashed for 3 days. Temp at bottling was 34 degrees so I used an online calculator with the following: Volumes of CO2: 1.9 4.8 gallons of beer Beer Temp: 34 I got 0.7 oz....which I used, but now reading more I'm finding conflicting...

    wort too cold?

I have an IPA recipe sitting in a primary fermenter since Friday night. The basement temp is 60F and I cooled the wort down to about 60F before pitching Nottingham yeast. I checked the bucket this morning and looked at the stick on thermometer which shows the middle colored number as 59F. Is...

    First Brew day done!

Started last night around 7:30 with a Brewer's Best IPA kit. First issue was keeping the water between 150 and 170 for steeping the grains. I think it went over 170 for a minute or two but I just turned off the heat and it kept fairly steady at 162 - 166 for 20 minutes (total steeping time...

IPA partial boil to full boil conversion

I've picked up a Brewer's Best IPA kit. The instructions call for boiling 2.5 gallons and adding 2.5 gallons to the fermenter. I'd like to do a 5 gallon full boil instead so I understand the amount of hops need adjustment. In an effort to learn myself I downloaded the beersmith application...

    Preparing for first brew

So for Christmas I received a home brewing equipment kit including 2 buckets, a better bottle carboy, hydrometer, thermometer, auto siphon, and such as well as an immersion chiller. I'm planning on brewing an extract kit IPA first in the next week or so. My first question is aluminum vs...
