Forgot to add brewing salts to mash water until 10 minutes in.

Run to the HBS and get new grains? Or am I fine. I'm brewing with RO water, and a grist that's 95% 2row and 5% rice.

Just moved to Santa Cruz, CA and need a beer primer!

Hi gang. I just moved to Santa Cruz (Scotts Valley, acutally) and need a beer culture orientation. I've been to Seven Bridges, Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing, Santa Cruz Aleworks and Boulder Creek Brewing, and they're awesome. I'd really value advice on bottle shops, small breweries, homebrew...

Overtightening of threaded couplers? Or am I just Paranoid.

So I just got my new kettles back from the welder (pics will come later), and screwed in all the dial thermometers, thermowells, ball valves, etc. In a couple instances, in order to get the handle of the ball valve right side up, or the dial thermometer facing the right direction, I really...

Where do you guys get oil for your March Pump.

The March Pump instructions state that they should be lubed with SAE20 non detergent oil. I've been to Home Depot, Lowe's, OSH, Kragen, Autozone and another auto store and can't find SAE 20 non-detergent. Where are you guys finding this?

PVC primer and cement safety question?

So I finally built myself a keg/carboy washer, a modification of SLObrewer's design. http://www.slobrewer.com/howto/kegcarboy-washer/2/ I got a bit sloppy with the purple primer and it got me thinking, is this stuff drinking water safe? I'm using Oatey primer and cement (below) but I find...

Spacing of couplers for a flat bottom kettle.

I just bought 2, 20 gallon Update International (megapot) kettles, and I'm going to have a local welder weld some couplers for ball valves, thermometers and a thermowell. Is there a standard spacing for flat bottomed homebrew kettles? How far from the bottom should I weld the coupler for the...

Bunch of homebrew stuff for sale. PID, Conical, etc.

Hey guys. All these items are price + actual shipping. I prefer paypal. I'll do my best to keep up on my PM box, but If it fills up I apologize. I'll do my best on shipping estimates. I don't do this for a living, so your guess is as good as mine on shipping. My zip is 93313 if you want...

    Aluminum and copper reaction

So I got a gently used new aluminum pot with for use a HLT, I filled it with water and boiled for 20+ minutes to create an oxide layer that we all know about. The oxide layer didn't really form like I've seen in other aluminum. It formed very splotchy, and didn't resemble the nice, even dark...
