    Kim Jong Ale

I've decided to keep with this theme, since the first was probably my best label yet. Up to this point I've got five of these, and I figure I'll share:

    Where to buy Galaxy hops?

Want to know if anyonne has found a US source for purchasing Galaxy hops. These sound like they are an incredibly interesting hop, and I'd like totry them, but can't find a source.

    Ryehabilitation Ale

This is my new favorite ale, and will be my house ale going forward. I try to keep a lighter ale and something a little heavier on tap, and this was definitely something I brewed up to keep SWMBO happy. She has been begging me to make a rye ale for a while. This was the first attempt, and I...

Stuck mash- what am I doing wrong here?

Did two batches yesterday. First, a rye IPA that worked like a champ. Second batch I brewed an English bitter. All of 6 lb of marris otter and 1 lb of crystal 40. Threw in some rice hulls just b/c I always do, mashed in at 152. 1 hour later, nothing but a dribble. I use a 10 gallon igloo...

    Glassware with micro-etching

My last trip to Europe, I noticed that most Pub glassware over there has micro etching that releases carbonation. I'd like to get some glassware that has this, but I don't want branded. (therefore no New Belgium or Sam Adams glasses as they are the only I've found that have this in the US)...

First multi-beer brew day today - Very successful

I'm getting ready to have a beer tasting Christmas party, so I needed to get a bunch of beers in production. Now I've got 3 batches in Primary and should be ready to go before my party. Super-excited b/c as always, these will be my best beers ever. I'll take any comments on my recipes, but...

    British beer tour

Spent a week week in London earlier this month, and I must have tried about 10 or 15 different real ales over the course of the week. I have to say that I am definitely torn on the style. I love the malty/nutty flavor of the real ales. In fact, I got back to the states and immediately...

Good places for craft brew in London?

Heading to London for a week on Saturday. Going to doall of the usual tourist stuff. My wife suggested that we do the ESB brewery tour, but we'll probably skip it b/c it is pretty out of the way. I'd much rather find a place that serves various craft brews that you can't get in the US...

Totally farked my first batch of apfelwein

Been totally distracted getting ready for my vacation to London next week. Planned on brewing a batch of beer two weekends ago, but it rained fora week straight and my basement flooded. That killed my next weekend cleaning up the mess. Anyway, since I didn't want to spend two weeks in Europe...

Does temp affect bitterness of hops?

I know that temperature affects sweetness, i.e. the colder something is, the less sweet it will taste. My question is if the opposite is true for bitterness? I just took a taste of my red ale and it actually seems to be more hoppy than it was when I tasted it at bottling. This isn't a bad...

    Looking for Parti-Gyle recipes

Ok. Been reading about Parti-Gyle brewing and I'm anxious to try this out. I've got my own recipe formulated (Belgian Golden Strong -> Kolsh -- not sharing it til I've tried it), but want to cut my teeth on another recipe to at least get the process down first. Saw the one recipe in Radical...

First All-Grain Done - Fermenting Happily!!!

Did my first AG batch last weekend and I have to say that it has been a complete success up til now...... Used Jamil's Amber Ale recipe and worked it down to 5 Gal. from 6. Also wound up adding an extra 1/2 ounce of Cascade to the bittering hops addition, but I'm not complaining as I don't...

My first bottle labels: D-Train Dunkel and kim jong ale

I'm relatively new to the homebrewing thing and a chick at work was giving me hell for not having labels, so I figured I would make some up. First is for football tailgating : Next is for my amber ale : All in all, I don't think I did too bad.

Need help with Fall brew plan......what to brew??

This fall I'm going to go from extract/partial-mash up to all grain. My original plan was to go ahead and use some American ale yeast that I've got washed up in my fridge to make 2-3 batches of Sierra Nevada/Sweetwater 420 style pale ales to dial in a recipe for my standard everyday brew. I...

First Partial Mash- 94.4% Efficient?? I don't believe it.

Did my first partial-mash tonight using the Death Brewer method after several batches of extract + steeping. Followed his instructions with one modification that I did the 15 minute sparge + heated a tea-kettle full of water to 180 to rinse the grain at the end of the sparge (poured it into...

    What is kegging'>kegging???

I'm sure this is a typical noob question, but what is the significance of saying kegging'>kegging when you are referring to kegging a beer??? I've read through as many posts as I could / searched the site / googled and can't find any reference. Is kegging' greater than just kegging? What gives.
