    Stored keg cleaning?

I brewed up two beers last October. One had heavy pumpkin puree in the mash ( Pain in the A ). They have been in the keezer at 38-42* and empty under pressure still. I havent looked at them, but am sure there is dried sediment. What does everyone use to clean and scour their cornies? The gasket...

I am looking for a tried and true German Pilsner recipe for an all grain 5 gallon batch. I get 75% eff. Never brewed a pilsner and really want to. Also, do I need to step mash the pilsner malt or just mash 152 for an hour and boil longer?

    Winter brew? Ideas please!!

I am looking for a great, tried and true All Grain recipe for this winter. I have a red wheat IPA about to keg. I thought about Yoopers Stout as its just plain awesome. I also thought about a snow cap clone but cannot find consistency on it. I thought about a porter. I thought about just a malty...

    Pumpkin Ale

I tried a recipe for the first time using pumpkin puree. I have used regular pumpkin baked, but since its early for that, puree worked well. This actually tasted like pumpkin pie as it went into the fermenter! Pretty excited to get this one fermented out and into a keg! 8.0 oz Rice Hulls...

    Water building? - - - -Yooper Stout

I have tried Bru n water and cannot download it for some reason. I am very new at the water building thing. I am going to be doing Yoopers Oatmeal Stout with RO water. I have no clue where to even start lol. Would it hurt to just leave it as is ( RO water unmodified?) or where can I/ What should...

    diminishing flavor?

I am 2 brews in from my brewing hiatus and have noticed something disappointing. Both beers were malty, one is a FANTASTIC IPA and the other is a Mac n Jacks clone. IPA has/had very citrusy hop flavor and strong malt backbone and it seems that as it carbonated, the whole flavor changed. It...

    Oatmeal Stout.

Here is a rough recipe I came up with for my next brew. How does this look for an Oatmeal Stout? I am looking to get a nice malty profile in a heavier stout. Not too sweet but just below balanced and a nice roasty flavor. Its IBU/SG is .444 9 lbs Pale Malt, Maris Otter (3.0 SRM) Grain 1 78.3 %...

    Ipa ibu/sg

What's a good or average IBU SG ratio for an American IPA? Knowing .500 is balanced, I'm assuming .800? Not lookin for too bitter but a solid IPA.

    Starter times?

What is the earliest one can make a starter? I am planning on brewing Friday (11/20) and I cannot make it tomorrow (11/19). Can I make it tonight (11/18) and pitch it Friday? It will be on a stir plate. And I am planning a 1.5L starter of Cali yeast wlp001.

    IPA recipe bandwagon.

Hey all, I am brewing up my first IPA in a VERY long time. I tossed this recipe together and tweaked it a bit. Read an article about eliminating the 60 minute edition and improving overall hop flavor. So I figured I would just start my additions at 30 minutes. I really do not know what to...

Marris Otter vs Pale 2 Row?

I have been brewing AG for a while and have never really tried MO. Not sure why but now I am kind of interested. I have heard it is biscuity vs pale 2 row. Why arent people using more of it as a base if it lends more of a flavor profile? I am planning on an IPA next and trying it as my base at...

    Rye?

I see a lot of people brewing up Rye beers or having at least some amount of Rye. What flavor does Rye impart? Whether in a large amount or small? Does it have to be step mashed or boiled longer? Or just normal mashing/boil?

    Ipa ibu/sg?

Using beersmith (im sure other programs have it), what is an average IBU/SG for IPA's. One that is not crazy bitter but good mix of bitter/aroma hop flavor. I am thinking .800 + but not sure. Just want to see what everyone who brews IPA's use.

    Dry Hopping time?

I brewed a Mac N Jacks last Sunday. It fermented very well since I used a nice starter and it has been 8 days. The airlock bubbles once every 14 seconds ( I timed it) and the Krausen is dropping. I need to dry hop for 5-7 days. Should I add the hops now?

    Grainfather!!

Well, I got my Grainfather yesterday and had no clue what to expect. I had seen many reviews that are great and some not so regarding the boil on the US version. I added some reflectix as per fotofishers video ( Thanks!) and I even doubled up since I am right at sea level. It is still boiling as...
