Bottling wine with Blichmann beer gun

I’m going to bottle my first wine tomorrow. It has been sitting on wood, so instead of transferring to a bottling bucket, I thought about transferring it into a sanitized keg and then bottling it with my beer gun. Has anyone else done this? Thanks!

    Frozen yeast.

I brewed a wheat beer with honey and chamomile for a beer festival that is happening in three weeks. I cold crashed on Tuesday and came down to the brewery today to find it frozen. I have no idea how this happened. Bruh. I know the beer will be fine once it thaws out, but my concern is the...

    Sacc Troix in primary

I brewed a farmhouse beer with Imperials Rustic. White Labs Sacc Brett Troix arrived right before I left for vacation and instead of transferring to a secondary, I pitched it right into the primary. Gravity for the farmhouse at that time was 1.006. Does anyone have experience doing this? The...

    Dry Hopping question

I am not a fan of hoppy beers, but my tailgating friends are. I have brewed a double trouble clone that is fermenting great after a week. The plan is to leave in primary for two weeks and then rack into the secondary for dry hopping. Here is where I get confused. The recipe I’m using calls for...

Too little sleep and mistakes are made.

Life is busy right now, but I’m trying to keep my brewing schedule. Today I measured out grains for a Belgian abbey Christmas beer. I needed 13.5 pounds of two row along with a half pound of five other malts ( Munich, caramel, aromatic, biscuit and Special B). Dark candi syrup goes in at...

    First blow off tube

This is my first blow off tube. I’m using a 1 inch version that fits nicely into the top of the carboy. From everything I have read, that should work. Does everything look correct?

    How much is 'dregs'b

I have a farmhouse ale that has been for fermenting for almost 3 weeks. The recipe I'm using wants me to rack onto strawberries and add the dregs from an all Brett-trois fermented beer. I have a vile of White Labs Brett B, I just don't know how much of the vile constitutes dregs. Any ideas?

    Belgian Saison 3724 starter question

This is the second starter that I have done. The one I did last week for a Dopplebock had a nice head of Krausen, but this one for the saison does not. Is everything cool?

    Dried SME for a starter

I plan on making a starter on Tuesday for a Dopplebock and I have this leftover spary malt extract from an old extract kit. I am not sure how old it is. Does it look too caked to use?

Quick connect leak. Need beer in 72 hours.

I was carbing my corny keg at 18 psi since 10/3 and at some point a slow leak drained the tank. Discovered it was empty this AM and have the beer back under co2 now. I tasted the beer and it is okay carbed with a lacy thin head. My thinking is to put under 30 for 24 hours and then try again...

    Mashing Pumkin Saison help

Brewed this beer on 09/02. My first brew in five years. Forgot to take OG. Used Wyeast 3724. Fermented great for three days and then stalled. Raised temp from 75 to 90 and fermentation started again but weakly. Brewed another beer and broke my hydrometer. Got nervous about it being on the...

    Small batch fermentor

Wife got a promotion so we moved and I lost my friends. I'm getting out of 5g brews and dropping down to 2g. Brew more often, less beer, but more variety. I want to make a small fermenter out of a mini fridge as that is all I will need now. What Love controller would be best for me? It...

I am making a wheat beer doing extract brewing that calls for 6.6 lbs of wheat/barley malt extract. Can I substitute some of the malt and steep grains in their place? It seems right in my mind.

    Secondary question

I want to transfer my Hefe to a secondary. I know. But, I want to see the difference between doing it and not doing it. Active fermentation finished four days ago, but I still have at least an inch of krauzen on the top. Does it matter how thick the krauzen it is before I transfer. I...

    Racking to secondary question

I brewed a Holiday ale last Saturday and I want to transfer it to a secondary so it will be clear as I am going to serve it a a gathering. I have brewed over ten batches, but I have not racked to a secondary since that first batch. I use glass carboys. My airlock quit bubbling on...

Made a wort chiller today. Too easy.

I am kicking myself for not making this sooner. It took about 30 minutes start to finish. I order the copper on line and bought the hardware to Home Depot. About $63 total cost.
