    Deionized Water

Does deionizing water remove chlorine and chloramine? There's a service outside of my local grocer that allows you to pick up deionized water (in 5-gallon containers) and I'm wondering if this stuff is safe to run a brew day on. Any thoughts/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Lag between first runnings and sparge?

My propane tank ran out when I was heating my sparge water, so I collected the first runnings, ran out and got a new tank, and then sparged. The time between draining and sparge was approx. 30 mins. Does anyone see any problems with this??

Running infected beer through my lines

Hey guys, I recently had to dump two batches after I found out that my laziness and ambivalence towards siphon hoses had caught up to me. In both cases, I didn't discover I had an infection until I drew the first pint. I've already run 2-3 gallons of star san through my lines, but I'm getting...

    Sweet Sassy-Molassey, that's a lot of foam!

Help! I just force carbed the second batch of a Cali Common and it is coming out fast and foamy! Originally I had it dispensing at about 8psi. I'm not sure of the temp in kegerator, but I'm positiv it's less than 40 degrees F. Then I unhooked the gas line, bled the excess and waited about an...

    San Fran Lager Yeast

Ok, so I know that these guys can ferment at ale temps, but if that is done... is it an ale or a lager? I mean it's lager yeast, right? I ask only because I recently brewed my first lager only to find out that neither my primary or secondary fit into my make shift lagerator (I know... if I...

    Igloo Mash Tun Thermometer Question

Ok, so this probably doesn't deserve it's own thread, but I don't know where else to ask it. I want to drill a hole in my 60qt Igloo MT for a 6" thermometer but I don't want to have any leaks (derp!). So I was wondering if there was a technique that people use to prevent this... like a food...
