My first two stove top AGs, question

Is this what's always called hot/cold break? I didn't filter or siphon, just dumped (used my grain bag for a hop bag though). There's about 4 inches of it, I hope it compacts out more. Made the Arrogant Bastard clone in the recipe section (I made a royal mess of it though and ended up...

    Can you fix aluminum pitting?

I was talking to my old man about keeping a eye out for a cheap turkey fryer and he mentioned he had a large aluminum pot he got at a garage sale for 20$ he could loan me. So he dropped it off and now that I'm looking at it, the bottom is all kinds of pitted and ever some scratches. I've...

Is a Turkey Fryer propane burner enough?

For a Keggle? 10-12 gallons I'm getting 2 maybe 3 Sankes for 15$ each from some local kid and I see a Turkey Fryer new in box for 10$ on CL as well. The Sankes were just to cheap to pass up even though I don't plan to change over to propane/outdoor/10g batches anytime soon. Though it's...

Is Star-san ok to use on Cornys?

I know the one time I couldn't find a bucket to Star-san my bottles in I used my kettle and it left the bottom super-shiney. I immediately rinsed and boiled water in it in case I damaged the protective layer. Later I read about acid based stuff not being so good for SS pans? Pitting and etc...

So now I'm kegging, check my shopping list for me please

Long story short, I hadn't planned to start kegging. I just wanted 4-6 to store away in case I changed my mind (and the keg scare actually played out) but I ended up getting 10 kegs. Anyways, now that I have so many I may as well keg, have a spare fridge too. If you would I want someone to...

Removing 10+ year old dirt from bottles?

This has probably been asked before, but I didn't find the answer. I live on a farm and as such there are several sheds from previous generations of use. So far I've dug up some 16 oz pepsi bottles (thick as hell, and re-cappable) and will likely be finding more kinds of bottles since my...

Where do you get your grain (online)?

Currently I'm planning to go from extract 5 gallon to 3 gallon Brew In A Bag batches. 3 reasons - Savings of AG + the fact that I don't drink a whole lot + I like making the beer possibly more than drinking it (and I do enjoy that, in moderation). (plus at least this way I can build up to 5g+...

To split or not to split dry yeast for 1 gallon experiments?

To split or not to split the dry yeast for 1 gallon experiments? I was thinking maybe something like ~half a pack in each gallon. I know that's still over pitching but I've never read anything bad about that? Dry yeast is cheap so I'm not majorly concerned in any case... just thought I'd ask...

Priming 5 gallons of Ed's Apfelwein with 1g Juice?

Yup I'm new! Anyways, I tried searching around for anyone that's made comment on it but couldn't find anything. Will it bottle bomb? My hopes are it'd work as a primer and possibly sweeten it some (and maybe cut the alchohol down, next batch will probably cut the corn sugar since I'm not a...
