    Flooring for the "bar"

We have a spare room that opens into the living room. Currently it houses the Kegerator and some "stuff". We plan on making it into a bar. We are leaning towards a sports bar with a lot of memorabilia (mostly football, basket ball and NASCAR). The room is currently carpeted with a very light...

Need help with new HLT setup (sorry Long)

Here are the details; I did an all grain Hefe recipe which I had brewed previously with no issues. I used my new HLT which is a converted keg using Northern Brewer’s weld less valve, with a copper pickup tube I built, and a Northern Brewer’s weld less sight tub/thermo well. I mounted the sight...

    AHBS shipping increase

I was on AHBS's site today to check out their sale and noticed they raised their shipping from $5.99 to $6.99. That will off set some of the savings you might get during the sale......... Still I guess it's not to bad.

Need help, 6 (7) bad batches in a row (Long)

So here is the deal, I’ve had 6 (possible 7, one in the fermenter now) bad batches in a row. The first 2 were mini-mash kits from AHBS, the next two were simple extracts with steeping grains, next was an extract with steeping grains from More Beer, and the last was a partial mash recipe of my...

    First Partial Mash Questions

Ok, like it says, I'm getting ready to do my first real PM. I have a couple questions and would like to varify my mash process. I am using a Gott 5 gal cooler and a hefe recipe I did on BS. First, when measuring the water amounts, how do you measure tenths (example; .14 gal)? Now the...

    Another beersmith question

Concerning hops, I'm used to seeing Bittering, at start of the boil, then flavor and aroma some time throughout the boil. In Beer smith the options are "boil, dry hop, mash, first wort, and aroma". So which would be flavoring? If I call them "boil" it affects the IBUs, but if I just call them...

    Hop choices

Ok, with the possible up coming price increase I figured I'd ask you all what hops you would buy. Let's say you are limited (funds) to about 3 different hops to get you by the next 6-8 months (1lbs each) of brewing and you really havent decided what your brewing yet. What three hops would you...

Kegerator that would fit a 1/2 barrel keg?

I have a friend that wants to build a kegerator. He is not homebrewing (yet) so he needs something that will fit a 1/2 barrel keg. What brand/models will work? My chest freezer is big enough, but I'd hate lifting a full keg into that.

    My new Fermentation chamber

Ok, it's actually an old beat up freezer and not as big as I wanted, but it works, not bad for $45. You can see I fit 2 primary buckets in it and if I put a sleeve on it like my kegerator, I could fit the better bottle on the hump. I just need to get the temp control and I'll be brewing again!

    Need German Translation...Ed?

I can't seem to find what Toepperwein translate to if at all. It is the name of a road we live off of and I think it'd make a neat brewery name but not if it means something stupid. :D Anyone able to translate it? Just hope it doesn't mean something like Wine is Super. :D

    Fat Tire...

There have been a lot of post recently about Fat Tire. I love it, and AHS clone comes really close to it. Recently however I had a surprise from Fat Tire. A buddy lost a bet and owed me a 6-pack, so I said I wanted Fat Tire. He had tried my AHS clone and liked it, so he pick up a sixer for...

    Input on Fermentation "closet"

I'm looking for some input on my next big project, a fermentation closet. Currently I brew in my garage, then carry the full fermentor into the house to a spare room and put it in the closet. I would like to frement in the garage. The garage doesn't seem to get to cold in the winter (low 50's)...
