    co2 question

    How long does a 5 lb co2 tank usally last. I have 3 kegs and don't force carb. It seems like i'm just blowing throught my gas. I checked for leaks and don't seem to have any. just want to see how long it's lasting everyone else. thanks

    yeast cake question

    I want to brew up a barley wine using the yeast from an ipa I just brewed. Can i just pour the wort right on top of the yeast cake or do i need to wash the yeast first? Do I need to worry about the old trub and spent yeast cells? I never tried to reuse yeast before. Thanks

    starter with dry yeast

    can you make a starter using dry yeast without hurting them. i just made one before read threas that said its not nessesary (3c h2o 1/2c dme and 2 packets of windsor brewing yeast). Also has anyone used this yeast before my lhbs is closing and thats all thy had left. thanks

    1st year hop question

    I planted 2 cascade rhizomes this year. The cones are turning yellowish and papery, and look like they should be picked but they don't have any smell. Is this common with first year hops, and can i use them? thanks

    do i need to pitch more yeast

    i made a starter using one of those 1000 ml conical flasks (1/2 c dme 3c water). i was shaking it up just before pitching when a perfectly shaped tear drop hole blew out the side of the flask shooting yeast all over me. i got about half the starter in the wort. does any one know if i'm going to...

    only getting foam

    First time kegger. Tried to force carb my beer and now only getting foam. This is what i did. Used 45 psi shook it up and waited to the gurgling to stop. did that 10 times. I let it sit overnight purged the keg turned it down to 9 psi and now getting a big pint of foam. What should i do? Thanks

    Noob question on kegging

    I want to only keg half of my batch. is there anything different that needs to be done or do i just treat it if it was a full keg.

    question on fermenting a lager

    is this good practice for fermenting a lager? 50 degrees for a week. then bring it up to 65 for a week (diactyl rest).then drop it down to around 35 for 3weeks. its my first lager and i think this is going to be my plan. i'm using wyeast amer lager 2035. Thanks.

    question about a starter for a lager

    Getting ready to do my first lager. The recipe calls for fermenting it at 50 degrees. When i make my starter do i want to keep it at 50 degrees also while it gets going? thanks

    is this bad????

    i just dropped my thermometer into my wort and it cracked on the bottom. I dont think any glass is in there but maybe some of the pelets in the bottom of the thermometer. did i just ruin my beer??

    noob question about dry hopping

    I racked my first brew to my secondary a few days ago. I added 1oz of cascade hops (pellet) for dry hopping. how long can these be left in or dosent it matter. Thanks.

    not bubbling yet

    First time brewing. I tried to make a pale ale from grains w/ extracs. When i first put my airlock on it started bubbling within a couple minutes now i've had nothing for about 36 hours. Is this normal? Thanks
