    Son of Fermentation Chiller Condensation Issues

    Does anyone have troubles with condensation forming on the ice containers? Might it flood the chiller or leak out and cause problems if I keep it in my house?

    Contamination?

    So I put my pot in an ice bath, including a bag of ice on top of the lid. I then pulled the lid off and stupidly tilted it, allowing about an ounce of melted water from the bag of ice to drip into the wort. I'm hoping I get away lucky.

    explosive secondary?

    I moved my bear to secondary last night, and when I checked on it this morning, the stopper and airlock were on the floor next to the carboy. I'm guessing the stopper got pushed out somehow (?) The beer's been uncovered, then, for potentially 8 hours. Should I be worried about contamination?

    HDPE vs Glass

    Is there any advantage that glass has over HDPE (high-density polyethylene) for a secondary vessel? I have a 2.5gal batch in primary right now, and was thinking of transferring it to a 2.5gal water jug (same material as you get 1gal water jugs in).

    Green Tea Weizen

    I'm working on an all-grain bavarian Weizen with Green Tea, and have a few questions about how to add the tea. I've read that some micros have done it by using pre-made iced tea instead of water during the boil. I'm not sure how much flavor would make it to the bottle so, by that method...

    low gravity?

    I have a Brown Ale in primary right now with Wyeast 1084 (Irish Ale); SG 1.055. I took a hydrometer reading less than 48 hours after pitching the yeast, and got 1.012. Does this seem low?

    stupid hydrometer question

    i have persistent problems with hydrometer readings. i put liquid in a test tube (about 1" diameter), drop the hydrometer in, and it sinks to the bottom. am i using too little liquid, and if so, how much should i use? am i making some other stupid mistake?

    i have a bucket and carboy sized for 5-gal batches. if i scale down to 2.5-gal, will the empty space cause problems?
