    Foam, so much foam!

Here is what we did. Transferred to the corny. Pressured up to about ~50. Let it sit in the fridge for a few days. Let some gas out to get the corny down to ~8 psi. All we get is foam! What have I effed up?

    Saison DuPont! (Southerners, please read!)

Hey, I live in what the horticulturalists call "the humid south" or a "subtropical climate". To give you some insight, I am running my air conditioner--it's 81f outside. I was at a friend's house last night and he bought a bunch of this DuPont beer. I thought it was excellent. And I read that...

Immersion Chiller, New method for use

So I have an immersion chiller. I am not so impressed with it, the time it takes to cool the wort. The other day I put it in a bucket of ice water and boiled water on the stove. I melted my auto siphon siphoning from the pot to the chiller but the water coming out of the chiller was like ~60f...

    FG question

So I made a porter and didn't use all the bittering hops, I thought the recipe had too high of an IBU for a porter. It looks like it is finished today and I checked the gravity. The recipe says the SG will be 1.068 and mine was 1.075. I checked the gravity and today it is 1.023 the FG is...

    grain bag alternative

I bought some cheese cloth but the holes look way too big. Can I use a muslin bag that has a tighter weave or does it have to be as loose as the grain bags?

Final Gravity Reading on my first beer...

I put what I did with the kit I bought into QBrew. It calculated the Starting Gravity spot on. It has been about ten days since I started the batch and it reads 1.014, which is what Qbrew says is the Final Gravity. Should I just bottle this up now? Oh yeah it is an IPA. It tastes pretty good...

My airlock stopped bubbling today and I took a gravity reading. It has a bit to go. I sloshed it a bit when moving it to do the test. Now the airlock is bubbling a bunch again.

    Hello From Baton Rouge, La.

Hello people! My name is Bill. I have several friends that brew. And I just started my first batch. I have a question for this introduction. The gravity is about a .01 or so away from being what it should be in the end. But the brew tastes very malty. I put in a bunch of hops at different...
