    Kegging Newbie

I just got my 4 kegs in from ebay as well as my freezer today! Unfortunately I have no co2 yet, and won't for a week or two. Are there any problems with aging my beer in the kegs? I'd rather just let it sit in the kegs than bottle it since it will end up being ready at about the same time...

    Stretching My Yeast Money

I use a lot of the White Labs California (WLP001) yeast and I was wondering if I could stretch it out a little further. My plan was to do a starter as I normally do (1000ml), and then swirl it to suspend it and pour half into another container and stash it in the fridge until my next batch is...

Extract vs. All Grain Fermentation Rate

I just did my second all grain batch last night and I've noticed that both of the all grain batches have fermented much more actively than my previous extract brews. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon? I know my mash tempatures were lower than I had intended, my cooler loses heat too fast...

    Added MaltoDextrin Late!

I brewed up a stout kit (Morebeer B3 Stout) about 3 weeks ago and forgot about the maltodextrin until almost finished. After a quick argument with myself, I decided to throw it in anyways with 15 minutes left in the boil. Now, my gravity is still at about 1.028 (OG of 1.062), is there anything...

    Stupid Dry Yeast Question

I've never used dry yeast before, should I hydrate per packet instructions or do I just sprinkle that sucker in there? It seems like most people just sprinkle it in. I am hoping to lower the gravity on my imperial stout a bit more and was going to try this. Would adding beano be a better option?

    Dry Hopping and High FG

I have a 2 part question: I am making a very hoppy IPA that requires dry hopping (Vinnie's Blind Pig IPA from morebeer) and I was wondering if there is a suggested method to clear it out. My buddy made the Pliny the Elder and he dry hopped that as well and you pretty much can't drink the last...

    Blow Off Tube

I brewed up an Imperial Stout, used the aforementioned yeast starter (see my other thread), and put it in the carboy. The results the next morning settled the debate with great authority. (I will post the picture if someone can tell me how. Not sure if I just put in the file path or what when...

Is it possible to use a yeast starter too early?

I fired out a couple of yeast starters late last night and I wanted to use one today for brewing. They've been sitting for about 8 hours now and there is a small layer of foam on the top (maybe 1/4"). My other 2 starters had sat for about 2 days and had about 1-2" of foam residue on the sides...

    High Final Gravity

I have made 4 batches so far and have yet to get an F.G. lower than .018. Am I doing something wrong or is this fairly normal? I do full 5 gallon boils using extracts, so far all 4 have been done with UltraLight. I've pitched my yeast at less than 80 degrees and I've used White Labs liquid...

    Better Bottle?

Has anyone heard of the Better Bottle? It is a plastic carboy that is supposed to be better than a standard glass carboy. I was just wondering if anyone had tried it or heard of it. You can go here for info on it: http://www.better-bottle.com/ Thanks
