I was at the LHBS and I bought some oak cubes, the package says minimum contact time is 8 weeks. Has anyone used these and what kind of results did you get? If it helps I'm going to put it in a big RIS to give out at xmas. Has anyone soaked them in bourbon and how did you sanitize them?

I brewed a batch of IIPA and saturday and didn't aerate the wort before pitch because I was tired and maybe a little buzzed. The wort did pour form the spout down into the bucket, so there was some aeration. The starting O.G. was 1.084. Should I open it back up and stir it up? Should I repitch?
