    Where is Mosaic?!

Found this great hop chart with flavor/aroma profiles: http://hopschart.com/images/hopschart_render.jpg However, despite offering a diverse range of hops, Mosaic is not included. I noticed this on the TastyBrew recipe calculator as well. There's at least 25-30 different hops listed but...

    Bottling before two weeks

How crucial is it to let your beer ferment for a full two weeks in primary? I'm aware it's dependent on the style and many other things. But the recipe in my first kit said two weeks in primary so ever since then I've followed that as a standard. However, each batch I've brewed (all 1 gallon...

    Batch size vs. Boil volume

Every time I use a brew calculator for a 1 gallon batch, I input 1.00 gallon for batch size and 2.00 for boil volume. I'm assuming this is correct, considering I use roughly two gallons of water during the mash/sparge. However, I've seen some recipes where , for example, the batch size is 5...

    Brewing with Mt. Hood

First and foremost, is Mt. Hood comparable to Hallertauer? Second, can it be used in APAs? Third, when would be the best time in the boil to use it when brewing an APA?

    Belgan aromatic vs aromatic

I was plugging in recipes using the calculator at tastybrew.com (a recipe calling for aromatic malts) and the only "aromatic" option in the drop down menu was "Belgian aromatic". Are there multiple versions of aromatic? Or are they the same thing?

    Using noble hops in APA/IPA

What's the general consensus on using noble hops in APAs/IPAs? Haven't seen many recipes that do. Is there a reason for this? I was planning on brewing a super floral APA and was thinking about using a combination of ahtanum, palisade, and sterling. Anyone have any experience brewing ales...

    This is a stupid question...

This is a stupid question but how do online hop retailers (e.g. Northern Brewer) keep hops cold and/or fresh during delivery? I'm guessing vacuum seal?

    Lagunitas Daytime clone

Recently tried this beer and was blown away by how good it was. Probably the best session ale on the market, in my opinion. My latest brew was an attempt to clone this beer. Lagunitas doesn't list the hops so I guessed (using Citra, Cascade, Centennial, and Mosaic). It's probably wrong but...

Too much krausen a bad thing?

Hey all. I'm currently brewing my second beer ever. Needless to say, I'm not quite sure what is "normal" fermentation behavior and what isn't. My first beer was from a kit and had minimal krausen during fermentation. My new beer, however, is my own recipe and is brimming the top with krausen...

    Dry hopping with multiple hops

I've been looking around for information on dry-hopping with more than one variety of hop but haven't found anything. Is it detrimental to the aroma/taste to dry hop with, say, cascade and centennial? In my current recipe, I used .10 citra at 60 mins, .10 cascade at 30, .10 cascade at 20...

    Question about early fermentation

I'm currently brewing my second beer ever. My first was from a kit so I consider that practice. This beer is entirely my recipe. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Anyway, I've already noticed some differences between my first brew and my most recent (both IPAs). My new brew is...

First Time Brewer Bottle Conditioning Woes

Hey guys. First time poster here. Was hoping you could help me better understand bottle conditioning. I'm brewing my first beer right now (IPA 6.8%) and I'm in the bottling phase. Everything has gone according to what I expected would happen while brewing except for right now. I've had my...
