I have looked at used ones, but around here (st. louis), unless you are the first caller - they are gone. So I finially decided that I would just buy a new one...

    Lagering Technique

Quick question for those die-hard lagering folks. I have a freezer with a temp controller (set at 54 degrees) with space for two carboys. Current lager looks like she'll be in there awhile and I want to get another one started. Limited to a 5 degree per day temp drop for the new batch...

Priming Problem - need help fast

Well - long story short. I am the dude with the clove meat marinade (actually started as a hefeweizen wheat that overheated just a tad). I decided to keep the batch and let it sit for a few months in the carboy. Unsure if the yeast had autolyzed, I tossed in a batch of priming sugar and kept it...

    Nearly Free Bottles

Hey everybody - you might look into this. My father-in-law was eating in a bar the other night and asked the owner about the returnable AB bottles. Get this. They gave him 3 cases for free, with the good commercial bottle boxes, and said they would only charge future cases at $0.60 per case...

Evening guys, I'm getting ready to pitch yeast into my latest lager experiment, and have new temp controlled freezer at 55-60 degrees. Just had a new question - can the primary fermentation happen in the freezer at that temp - or does it need to happen at basement temperature, then to the...

Fermentation Cooler from Freezer or Fridge

Dearly departed, I just lost a wheat batch to the dreaded clove flavor. I understand that temperature control is needed. I was looking at putting a temperature controller on a fridge or freezer (chest) - How is a guy to choose which one? Assuming all other things are equal - will one work...

Help - My weizen wheat beer tastes like cloves

Merky at 1 week in secondary

Just brewed my first non-kit brew. I truly decided to wing it and made a Budvar-like lager with a pound of rice syrup extract added. She sat in the primary for about a week, then on to the secondary for about a week. Plenty of settlement on the bottom of the carboy - but it doesn't have that...
