I'm looking for an inexpensive propane burner timer/cut off device. Let's say I want the burner to stay on for an hour, and then cut off. It doesn't need to be fancier, i.e., it's not going to be tied in to a temperature gauge, etc.

I had a unfiltered cider recently that was very good - probably one of the best I've ever tasted. The brewer stated that he keeps the fermented cider on the lees for 45 days, and only racks it once before letting it age. I'm wondering if other cider makers here have done something similar? My...
I've DIY'd an internal cooling/heating coil for my Blichmann 14.5 G Fermenter and I've had success in the warmer months using chilled water and a pump. Basically the pump turns on when the fermentation temperature gets above a set point and turns off when it gets below a set point.
Question...
I've been transferring for several years using a pump and 1/2" silicone tubing. My sparge tun is on a small table, lower and next to a larger table that holds my hot lauter tun and boil kettle; the pump is near the ground below the sparge tun. When I transfer hot wort from the sparge tun to the...
Is there a source for washer and o-ring sizing and ordering? Say I wanted to place a silicone washer next to a ss washer on a bulkhead, for example, or place an o-ring around the lip of a ss container. Where would I go?
Has anyone use this as an internal heat control? I was thinking of attaching pass-through compression fittings and drilling two holes into the corny keg lid on my Blichmann 14 gallon fermenator; the opening is just large enough for the coil to slip through.
I'd control heat in the warmer...
Has anyone tried retrofitting a Blichmann Fermenator conical dome to fit a SS FTSs Temperature Control Coil? Granted that the dome's surface is curved, but it should not be too difficult. I would think that you'd have to unbend the coil on both sides, to get it to sit a little deeper, as well...
I thought that I'd post this and then walk away from the problem for a while, in hopes that someone with more practical experience than me could offer some advice.
I am currently 1 hour into a project that would normally take me 10 minutes or so: drilling a starter hole for a step bit that...
Has anyone had success with using the Hop Blocker in a non-Blichmann boil kettle? I'm upgrading in size and would prefer to save a little money for a boil kettle if I can - and I do like using the hop blocker.
Edit: Nevermind, I figured it out. Instead of trying to find a pot with a hole that...
I've upgraded to 10 gallon batches so I no longer need this equipment. Lightly used: no dings or scratches that I can see. The Boilermaker has been used as a sparge tun (see picture: closest container).
Local pick up only. I'm near Huntington, NY (Suffolk County). Zip is 11731. Prices are...
Please advise. This is four days in and I don't think it's mold. Formation is below the surface and it's not fuzzy. Fermenting at 77F and pH was 2.85 yesterday.
I have to travel unexpectedly and am in the middle of making a starter. My options are to leave the starter out for 5 days or refrigerate after one day and resume again after I get back. I would expect that the yeast would consume unused sugars after I take it back out of the refrigerator.
I'm upgrading to some larger pots and want to sell my Blichmann 10 Gallon Boilermaker G1 and false bottom. It's been used primarily for fly sparging - about 10 brews. I bought the false bottom used and it's worked perfectly.
It's the smaller pot on the bottom left side. I'll have some more...
Where can I purchase unmalted two-row barley, suitable for malting at home? Not grain feed. I live in New York City but would be willing to travel upstate to purchase 50 lb. bags.
I'd like to install a tri-clover CO2 injection kit on my 14.5 gallon Blichmann Fermenator, and would appreciate any suggestions on where to look and how to do this.
Thank you.
I just made my first cider. I dropped from a OG of 1.060 to a FG of 1.002 in three weeks and I've put it in a secondary fermenter to take it off the yeast cake. Next weekend, I plan to cold crash it and transfer to a keg to age it out.
Question: Is this the time to back-sweeten and carbonate...
I'd planned to use my RO system for the first time today, but the weather has not been kind insofar as my outside faucet has a plug of ice in it (I'd left a hose attached - yes, I know...).
So I tried to run a 30' foot RV hose from an indoor faucet but no joy. I don't think that I have enough...
