    Temperature control for Keezer

I am certain this has been posted before, but after a very cursory search, I didn't find anything. I am looking to convert a Frigidaire chest freezer into a keezer and want to find a good looking, easy to use and install thermostat/temperature controller. I don't, however, intend on...

    Black and Decker Vacuum Sealer

I've got one very lightly used FreshGuard Vacuum Sealer that works like a champ. These little guys are every bit as good as the Foodsaver and can use the same bags. Perfect for saving hops, grains, etc. 30 dollars plus shipping OBO. Includes one 20' foot roll of 8" bags - good for...

    Leffe bottles? Anyone?

Besides their annoying foil and smaller size, is there any reason not to reuse Leffe bottles? Will they work with the standard caps and a wing capper? I capped one and it seemed to be on tight but sometimes the smallest gap is the biggest culprit. I'm short on bottles and need to scrounge some...

    Soft drink regulators and beer

Anyone know why soft drink regulators aren't made for beer? I've got one that I intend to build around, but after looking at the micromatic website, I'm not so sure it's fit for this application. Why not? http://www.micromatic.com/draft-keg-beer/gas-equipment-pid-942.html Is this a...

What's the perfect bulk hops order?

I am thinking about putting in an order for some bulk hops with hopsdirect. I want to make an order that'll allow me the sort of versatility to brew many types of beers. Can anyone here help me pick out an array of hops that I'll never grow old of/that have many uses? Thanks. MT

Windsor: the worst yeast ever? Attenuation problems...

I brewed an Oatmeal stout, all-malt, and decided to try Danstar Windsor for it's tendency to leave some residual sugars and big mouth feel. But seven days into this brew, I've only attenuated 60% or so. Bah humbug. Anyone had similar problems?

    Efficiency with Corona Mill

Anybody know what the average efficiency is using a Corona mill on grains? It's definitely a cheaper alternative to the barley crusher, and a gateway to bulk grain purchases. Thanks.

Can O2 tank be filled with CO2?

I'm looking to piece together a kegging setup, and as I was rifling through my folks' garage, I found an O2 tank that was attached to some sort of torch. It's a good size, I'd guess 20 pounds, but I was wondering if these tanks are okay for CO2? I read in another post that the valves have to...

    Munton's Gold Yeast

I went to the LHBS and they were out of the Fermentis American Ale yeast. So, in a pinch, I grabbed the Muntons Gold Yeast. Does anyone have any experience with this yeast? Is it a pretty good, all-purpose ale yeast? I read the description on BYO and it said that it is made for 100%...

    Oily Residue

Just a quick question: I recently brewed a wit and I am looking to bottle it today. I have moved my carboy onto the kitchen counter to let the sediment settle before I rack it into my bottling bucket. But I noticed something that I have only noticed once before and it was on my...

    Carboy Size

I recently brewed a 3 gallon batch of Pale Ale and after taking a hydrometer reading on consecutive days, it appears it is finished fermenting. My question is this: I only have one 3 gallon carboy, but would very much like to secondary this beer: what are my options? Would there be...

    Champagne Bottles

I just bottled a batch of pale ale and I wanted to try using a Korbel bottle as a mass storage vessel, so to speak. However, I have noticed that the bottle is developing a head of foam inside the bottle -- and a pretty significant one at that. I was using a wing capper and regular caps...

    Beer in Airlock

So I've got an APA fermenting away in a glass carboy with a stopper and an airlock on top. The fermentation has taken off and beer keeps making its way into the airlock's chamber. I don't have any tubing on hand that will fit into the stopper, nor have I ever rigged one up. Is it a big deal...

    Embarrassing Blunder

So today I racked my American Wheat into my bottling bucket. Usually when I do this, I point the spigot towards the ceiling and turn the valve into the off position--except, this time I failed to turn the valve off. Not thinking, I spotted the leak and immediately thought the gasket inside the...
