    Water profile

I'm about to brew an american brown ale (Jannis Brown ale from Brewing Classic styles). I have done som reading on water adjustments and would be grateful if someone with more experience could take a look at my adjustments. Anything that looks crazy? Would you have done anything different...

Let the keg cool before connecting CO2?

I just started kegging, and I'm wondering if I should let my newly kegged beer get cold in the kegerator before hooking up the CO2? Pros? Cons? Doesnt matter? The plan is to hook it up on serving pressure and let it sit in the kegerator for a week or two.

    Chrome Dip Tube?

I bought two used cornelius keg from homebrewstuff and on one of the kegs the dip tube (beer out) is really shiny. Almost look like chrome to me. Also, on some places where the dip tube have been chafed there are sharp mini "splinters". Is that normal?

    Aging lambic

About a year ago I brewed 5 gallons of lambic and it has been in the fermenter since then. The plan is to split the batch to get one part on fruit, one part on bottles and the third part in a 1 gallon glas bottle to be saved for a future geuze. The question is, should I put an air lock on...

    Vegetarian alternative to gelatin

I'm looking for a vegan alternative to be used as a fining agent. Most people use gelatin och isinglass, but is there any vegan alternative? I've read about agar agar but haven't found anyone that has been successful using that. I usually just use Irish moss in the boil, and my beers get...

What not to do with beer glassware?

I'm thinking about doing an experiment about glass care and head retention. I guess you have all heard about different things that you absolutely shouldn't do with your beer glasses, because it spoils the head retention of the beer that you later put in it. Here are some from the top of my...

    Bubbles on top of cider

I made a cider/apple wine 4 weeks ago with pasteurised apple juice, some apple juice extract and safale s-04. Starting gravity about 1.050 and gravity a week ago was 1.002. It smells OK. Almost like white wine with a touch of apple. And its really clear. But, there are still some bubbles on...

    Filling up "dead space"

I have been using a bucket in bucket mash tun for a couple of years, and it works pretty good. The only thing I really dislike about it is the fact that there are always a couple of litres (halv a gallon or so) of water under the grain bed, thus not being a part of the actual mash. I would...

How about this water for all grain brewing?

I just started looking into my water quality. The full chart of my water can be found here: http://www.vasyd.se/SiteCollectionDocuments/Vatten%20och%20avlopp/Dricksvatten/Malmö%20Juni%202012.pdf It's in swedish though, but here are the numbers that I have seen other people post: pH: 8.3...
