    Airlock bubbling again in secondary??

When my beer was in primary this morning the airlock was completely still and the little plastic piece was completely resting. I see that as no positive pressure. I racked to secondary a few hours ago and now I have some bubbling and positive pressure again. IS THIS OK? I did feel like I got...

    Pitching yeast too hot?

What will happen if I pitched my yeast a little prematurely. I was pressed for time. It may have been down to 75 but it's hard to say? It had a 25 min ice bath and seemed ok but I'm always worrying. Thanks ahead for the feedback

    Rum fell in my secondary!?!?

Another beginner mistake, I think.... I was racking to secondary and since I don't have vodka in the house, I use rum. Come to find out that when you at tightening the airlock and the bucket lid the negative pressure tends to suck back about .5 oz of whatever is in the airlock (maybe less)...

Can I ferment the first few days in my fridge?

I have very limited resources to control fermenting temp and I hear about all the off flavors that come from increased temps but not much about off flavors from low temps? I also heads that a lot of Belgian beers ferment at a really low temp for the first couple (few) days then they let it warm...

Messed up; 3.5 gallons fermenting; NEED HELP

I could have swore I started with 5 gallons (and a little extra) and had my wife double check me. The beer has been fermenting 7 days and I just turned the light on in that unused bathroom it is sitting in and I could see the liquid level at only 3.5!?!? Could I have lost that much in the boil...

    Adding Nut Extract

I have an English style brown ale in primary and I will be reracking it this weekend. Can I add any type of nut extract for flavoring when I rack it to secondary? If so, what's the process like? I added a couple pinches of cinnamon midway and towards the end of the boil and I think some...

FML. How can I be sure I ruined this beer?

How do you know if you have ruined your beer? I went to rerack after two weeks in primary and it had a thick layer of crap floating on the top. At first I optimistically though "well maybe because it's an oatmeal stout." Then as I got to the bottom it didn't look anything like my first...

Aloha from a newb in the Cal Bay Area!

My first batch of a basic English style Brown Ale came out pretty good. We bottled about two weeks ago but I think it will get better as the weeks go on. Just put an Oatmeal Stout variation in the primary yesterday and it has a steady bubble to keep me anxious. If you also share my love...

Do you think I ruined my 2nd batch?

Aloha and thanks for taking the time to coach a newb, I have 2 worries. 1st is bitterness of the wort and 2nd is did I contaminate the wort as I put it in primary? Bitterness: The beer is an Oatmeal Stout version that the guys at my local store helped me concoct. My first batch was an...
