    Coating inside aluminum mini-keg

I came across a small 'Tapper' keg like this one: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NDgwWDY0MA==/z/xQMAAOSwGYVW-W-b/$_1.JPG I plan on refurbing what I can and modifying it to run off a regular CO2 tank. My only concern is that there is a grayish tan coating inside the keg that has flaked off in a few...

Dispensing a full keg at once, can I use air instead of co2?

I'd like to get a keg setup some day (just to force-carb, I'd like to then bottle it), but that costs money and I really can't justify spending what it requires to get a good keg system. So my cheap plan is to carb the beer using priming sugar in the keg to get the whole batch done at once...

    Grolsch bottle seals

I scored 13 grolsch bottles at a yard sale for $4 (i'm pretty thrilled about that), but a lot of the rubber seals are dried out and two are missing. I work at a hardware store, so I can get o-rings for almost nothing. Would one of those seal it well in the long-run? I haven't used grolsch...

    My first cider attempt

We have a small orchard, so we decided to make a batch of hard cider this year. We press it ourselves, so it is unpasteurized, pure cider. Ingredients: 3 gallons cider Lalvin 1118 yeast (its just what I had laying around) I killed off wild yeast with campden, waited 24 hours and...

Raspberry/Strawberry wine has a weak flavor, what to do?

I used 7.5lb of raspberries and 3.5lb strawberries to make a 3-gal batch of wine. I started it about 3 months ago and tasted a sample today after racking it. It has a decent kick from the alcohol, but there is very little actual flavor. What should I do to bring some fruit flavor back to the wine?

    Stir plate for degassing?

Long story short, i tried to build a stir plate but it isnt working as well as i might hope (as in its not really working at all), and i'm debating just chucking the whole thing. Has anyone else tried using a stir plate to degas? It should be a pretty easy way to agitate the wine to get CO2...

    Degassed wine: airlock still bubbles?

I'm making a 3gal batch of peach wine for the first time and i've just stabilized it and started degassing. I decided to use my brake bleeder because not much happened when i stirred it up (no foam or rush of bubbles or anything really). When i got the pressure up to ~16in Hg bubbles started...
