    First batch of Cooper's European Lager

    "Help me if you can" by the Beatles I brewed this canned lager 5 gallon kit 3-4 weeks ago, still in the primary. Newbie that I am, I boiled the water and emptied the contents (HME or LME)and let the water cool briefly prior to ice bath and then pitching the yeast into the wort in the primary...

    Wort chiller versus ICE chiller

    I usually do a 5 gallon brew with approx. 3 gallon extract batch wort mixture in my brewpot so am adding approx 2.5-3 gallons of water ice after boil-off. Will this work as a chiller to bring the temp down for SG test and yeast-pitch? A true poor man's chiller. What say you??? :confused:

    Primary = primary /Secondary = primary?

    I have read thru the "When to go from Primary to Secondary, if at all" blog for the past 2 days. I have come to the conclusion especially with a lot of the experienced brewmasters on here that: I can now turn my secondary (read carboy) into another primary since I really don't need to do a...

    Lager brew Yeast substitute

    I am wanting to brew a Pils Urquell clone lager but I don't have a way to drop the ferment temp down to 48-56 degrees...my brew closet runs 64-68 degrees as my ales have been turning out great at this temp. Question is: what type of yeast can I substitute in this Pils brew that will work for...

    airlock overflow

    My major concern is that with the airlock on bucket, the yeast has been very active and actually overflowing the airlock. Just put in primary on Saturday, Feb 3rd, first time homebrew with 5 gallons, I am used to Mr Beer fermenter. Not heavily but splatters on the lid…is this of major concern...
