    Trellis Re-Design

I'm in to process of trying to figure out how I'm going to redesign my trellis. Anybody have any good advice on keeping your hop plants contained? My second year cascade had runnier that was 2 inches in diameter and 4 feet long before it can out of the ground....lord only knows how much...

Add me to the all grain brewers list.

It went pretty well. I ended up mashing in at 153.5 and final mash was 149.5. I preheated the tun but I was doing a 5 gallon mash in a 10 gallon cooler but I didn't deal with the air space above the grain. I think that cause the swing in temp. I sparged with 168 water because the water...

    PA growers...anything yet?

I planted mine about a week and a half ago and I still don't have anything. This is my first year so I'm probably just impatient but I'm curious what others have. All the warm climate folks have me jealous. :D It was 31 degrees here this morning.

    Info on Pleasanton, CA

All, I'm heading out there for training next week and looking for restaurant and brewery info. I know anchor brewing isn't far away but I don't think I can get over for a tour due to schedule. I'm taking my wife and son (little over a year old) with me so keep that in mind for...

    I have a bit of a problem.

The problem is that I haven't really found a style of beer I don't like. In fact, I very rarely find a beer that I can't appreciate on some level, that's not to say that they don't exist but there haven't been many. I know, I know....you're all out there saying "I don't really see that as a...

    Craigslist + Homebrewing = Awesome!

I just picked up two ten gallon gatorade coolers for 30 bucks. Absolutely awesome. Seems that this school district switched to Coke products and now must use powerade as part of there contract....therefore no Gatorade coolers. Craigslist makes our lives so much easier.

    Bad regulator or not?

Should I be able to feel air flow from the small hole off to the side of the adjustment screw on the regulator? See the below image for the small hole I'm talking about.

Great buy but not without issues.

I found a used Kenmore kegerator for $250. Thankyou Craigslist. :rockin: The bad news is that it hasn't been used in a few years and the previous owner never cleaned the lines out. I'm trying to figure out how to best clean the lines. It has what I think is the D type keg adaptor. I'm...

    Bottling 3 month old Apfelwein.

I've let my apfelwein age for a few months but I got to thinking,... it always gets me in trouble. Is there going to be any viable yeast left to carbonate the bottles? Thoughts?

Need help coming up with a rasberry stout recipe.

SWMBO has requested a Raspberry Stout. I've been searching for some time for an extract/steeped grain recipe but nothing really sticks out. I found this one: http://www.stoutbillys.com/stout/recipens/(Flat)/4B93B6F7.htm Curious about the gypsum to create hard water. Any info on this...

My first few attempts at labels

I kind of tinker with photoshop but I'm by no means an expert but I have fun with it. My first beer was a Nut Brown so I made this: The next one is for the clone I have in one of my primaries, can you guess which one :fro: And for the apfelwein: Nothing to fancy but...

Hoegaarden clone is finally in primary

Morning all, Very pleased with my clone and second batch this morning when I found that less than 8 hours after pitch it is happily perking along. Color is much darker than original but it doesn't bother me at all. OG was 1.049. Man does a 60 min boil do a good job of reducing your wort...

    AHS yeast....unknown condition.

First and foremost...I bought the ice pack but after 4.5 days in shipping no ice pack is going to make it, lesson learned. I don't have any DME to create a starter so I'm not sure how to make sure that the WLP400 Belgian Wit yeast will still be viable. Any suggestions?
