Converting Newcastle Draughtkeg to use CO2 tank and party tap

I have a spare 5# CO2 tank and I was thinking it might be nice to put it in my fridge with a little 15L keg. I know they have those little taps that can take the little pellet gun style CO2 cartridges but that's pretty irritating. Is there a kit out there to use to convert to something usable?

Need advice on drilling out holes for a keggle

I'm setting up a HERMs electric build. To that end I'm needing to drill out holes in some kegs. I started out using a punchout bit like this one. It stopped working about 3/4 of the way into the second hole. Then I got a 7/8" bit which hasn't had much better luck. What should I be doing...

    DIY conical

I can't take credit for this but does it look like it would do the job? A guy in my LBC came up with it and it SEEMS like the idea is sound but... The tub comes from www.spraysmarter.com. It's 15 gallons for a hair under $60

    Boil Kettle element question

I was thinking about some input I've gotten from several people in various threads and was thinking that if I were to not connect my Boil Kettle element to a PID would it be safe to wire it up to an appropriately sized contactor and then just hook up the coil on the contactor to a switch to...

    Keggle build question

I'm setting up for all grain with a 3 vessel HERMS and will be using a half barrel sized keggle. I am going to have some manner of mesh screen on the drain valve to prevent dregs from entering the pump/chiller/fermenter but I wonder where are the optimal places to put the ball valve for draining...

    Lid for a keggle

I used an angle grinder to cut the top off a half barrel keg to make a keggle and will be doing the same for my HLT. What is generally done for lids on these things? Or is that just skipped?

    Total neophyte question

I keep looking at schematics and designs and before I actually put wire to anything I just want to be sure. In all of the designs I see it shows two hot wires going to the elements at 240v. I picked this one at random but they are all the same: JUST TO BE SURE, I'm running the two hots...

    I need help finding parts

I'm looking for 2 things. The main one is a quick disconnect for my (eventual)HERMS system. Seems like these days all you can find anywhere is the Shark Bite style of quick CONNECT. I need something that will preferably shut of the flow when I disconnect it, like the kind you'd find on an air...

    Brewing Solenoid Valves

Where is a good place to get them for my eventual HERMS system?

Not sure if this is more of a yeast or general brewing question but...

OK, getting started brewing bigger batches. Going from standard 5 gallon to 10 or 15 gallon batches. My question is this: Do I need more yeast? I generally use an appropriate Wyeast pack. But to my line of thinking as long as the yeast is there it will continue to multiply until the "food"...

    newish brewer question kegging question

I am not a NEW brewer per se, been doing this for about 6 or 7 months, but I am going to start brewing bigger batches now. I just picked up 5 half barrel kegs. I know I'm going to turn one into a keggle but I'm curious if I could designate one as a primary and another as a secondary? Or do I...

    keezer air circulation question

I added a bilge fan to my keezer set up to push the cold air up and cirulate the it a little better. My question is should I set the fan to only activate at certain temps to save energy? I have a temp control module with two sets of control. I was thinking it might work to have it kick on at...

Different beers and how much CO2 pressure they want

I've only been brewing for about 6 months and know only enough to know I need to know a lot more. So far I've had good luck and everything has tasted great. After a mammoth bottling session (11ish gallons in to 120 bottles) I decided it was time to start kegging. I've got 3 batches kegged now...

Looking for Brewing club in KC/Overland Park area

I live up in the northland by WoF but am interested in finding a group that gathers once or twice a month to talk shop and maybe trade a bottle or two. Anything like that around here?

    Keezer beautification project question

OK, I have a keezer that's approx 47"w x 22"l x 3.25' tall. It's tall enough I don't need a collar. Right now it's resting on a frame made from a 2x6 on heavy casters. The lid has a sheet of plywood on it that I plan to tile and trim. That's all fine. My question is how do I attach the...

    Very basic keezer build question

OK, I picked up an old deep freeze and a temp control system. it's big enough to hold 6 corny kegs plus two 20# gas tanks. If I don't plan on throwing a fancy wood frame on it, and since it's tall enough not to need a collar, are there any special steps I'd need to take if I wanted to run the...

Is it ok to use compressed air to push cleaner thru Corny keg and tap?

I have a pretty small CO2 tank and I'd rather not use it up to push cleaner thru the system if I don't have to. To that end I've rigged up a fitting to go from my air compressor to the gas line on the keg so I can push normal air in to run the cleaner. Provided the pressure isn't too high is...
